And, on the race stuff - there are valid points to be made, but on this specific topic, it's a stretch. Lost is diverse and equal-opportunity when it comes to moral shadiness.

Yeah, I agree -- I think it's understandable for the actor to be upset at having his character killed off, but I think the way he's voicing his anger is tacky. Of all shows to claim is racist, I really don't think Lost is one to pick. He's making it about Michael "the black chararacter" and not just Michael "the character," which I think is a shame.

I just hope he didn't burn any potential bridges - I don't think Walt's story is done being told. I think there is potential for Walt to make a comeback and for Michael to redeem himself in the eyes of his son a la Christian, by sort of helping out from the nether world.

Personally I am not upset about the(2nd) departure of Michael. Don't get me wrong, I think Harold Perrineau is a talented actor and brings depth and complexity to a somewhat one-dimensional chracter. However the character of Michael did not contribute much to this season and when his backstory was told, it felt rather forced and ultimately unnecessary(except for the part about the Island not allowing its former inhabitants to end their lives). Also I understand his anger but did he truly believe that his character could remain on the series for another two series as a tortured and emotionally crippled man?-double-homocide isn't easily forgiven by the survivors nor by the fans, especially if that character isn't terribly intriguing.

in a country with racism still alive who can blame him but lost probably has one of the most diverse cast on tv, next to grey's anatomy and heroes.

HAROLD'S talents were somewhat limited due to the writers strike and wasted because it seemed to to be a mish-mash patch up job in episode 8 - but for the continuity of the show he had to come back in order to get killed off - if the season was alloted their full season compliment hes stint in this season would have been so much better - good luck with the new show!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im sorry but i could swear that aaron is a fatherless child--and oh wait....HES WHITE ! Put the race card back into your pocket and keep it there- Race wouldnt be such a huge issue if people would stop using it as a crutch.

Wow, didn't see that one coming. But as the English teacher (khatruman) said, it's all about perception. Unfortunately, in the US the percentage of fatherless black children and the black crime rate are both disproportionately high. When that starts to change, perhaps the perception will change as well. But to suggest Michael's role was tailored to promote a stereotype is the height of paranoia. Let's see, Claire was illegitimate and her own child has no father. Ben was motherless with an emotionally abusive father and responsible for countless deaths. Locke and Sawyer were foster kids and both have killed. Kate had a step-father who she killed. Michael killed to save his son, while both Charlie and Sawyer killed for revenge. People see what they want to see and are quick to pull the race card went it serves their cause. Sorry Harold, I ain't buying it.
