This is just yet another black person ridiculously pulling the race car, as they always do when they don't get their way!!! I'm glad Michael's dead and hopefully, we'll never see the character again, thus we won't have to deal with further wussy whining from Harold!

And, I didn't like the character Michael, Claire or Charlie for that matter. So, actually I am glad he is dead. Maybe you didn't read the whole thing, I mean I did type a lot. But, please explain to me how that takes away from the point?

IGrok2, I was referring to Harold in my post, not you.

I do hate when race gets pulled into everything, as it is often an easy out. I do feel that there aren't nearly enough 'people of colour' on Lost, however, it is more diverse than most shows out there. And like Oscar said, most of the characters on the show, regardless of race, have daddy issues. Do I wish there were more positive portrayals of African Americans on TV of course, however, on Lost, most characters are flawed.

Like stated by 80sPro, Sun is looking to become a very powerful character, and powerful but 3 dimensional women are a rare thing on TV, never mind one who is not white. I hope Sun stays on this path.

Ignoring the race part (which is kind of stupid and has nothing to do with anything), I agree that Michaels' death was totally pointless. If anything, it just confirms to me the total lack of foresight the writers have for what's happening on the show. They get Michael and Walt off the island, then bring Michael back for a handful of scenes after being gone for more than a whole season? Bringing Michael back did not serve the character in any way, it only provided the writers with an excuse for allowing Ben to know everything about the freighter people.

In my opinion, the writers did a poor job with Michael's return. In the broad picture (after LOST concludes), one may actually forget he even returned after leaving in the season 2 finale. The bigger problem was all the hype that surrounded his return. So, when "Meet Kevin Johnson" aired, I was very disappointed. And by the time his stint was over, it was sort of like....who cares? His death was anti-climatic. However, his bringing up the race card was amusing. If he's trying to claim that the writers don't like black people, he's sort of crazy. I find it odd that he had a problem with race in this show, but had no problem whatsoever with race on the show "Oz", where he was the featured player in every season. Don't pick and choose Harold.....

Perspective means quite a bit, and as you can see from my picture, I am an older white guy. I teach at a high school that is roughly 75% black. Currently, I use LOST with my 9th grade English class as a long-form story and character analysis project, and they are enthralled. We are just finishing Season Two (we will watch the finale next week) and when Michael became the killer, one of my students said, "Why does it always have to be the black guy?" Like it or not, the perception is there. African Americans have such a history of victimization through racism (which hasn't ended, but has become only more subliminal) that it will be perceived whenever a black character is shown negatively. I can understand Perrineau's frustration, and I too was disappointed that his return was so lackluster. I am saddened that he feels it is a race issue, but I understand as well. Michael, we will miss you.

I dont think race has much to do with it, but it's kinda sad in general for him. I'm sure he wouldn't have come back if he had known his character was going to be as disrespected as it was. He was in what, 4 episodes? Terrible. I understand from the producers standpoint not giving his character the "happy ending" because of his past sins... but for Harold, raw deal.
