Ben's mother died in childbirth. Locke's mother was still alive before Locke lost his kidney.

1) Do we know that the woman that visited Locke (who was in cahoots with Anthony Cooper) was, in fact, his mother - and not some floozy hired by Locke's dad?

2) The fact that both Ben and Locke's mothers' names were 'Emily' leads me to suspect that they are, in fact, half-brothers - both chosen, but fulfilling their destinies in different ways.

3) I'm starting to buy the theory that Abaddon is a grown-up Walt. Did you hear the way he talked to John? The manner in which he said "Mr. Locke" sounded just like Walt. Of course, we're supposed to see 17-y/o Walt sometime in the next season or two, and so who knows? But if he can travel through time like Alpert, et.al., it might make sense.

4) Is Locke's continual assertion that he is a hunter mistaken? He seems pretty good at it. Then again, he's also good at being the patsy.

no, looking back at the man behind the curtain, that woman who gave birth to Ben was definitely not Emily Locke. Ben and Locke are only a couple years apart (less than 10) and Ben's mother is clearly not in her teens or early 20s.

Well, if Emily was part of the DI and had spent time on the island, who knows how she would have aged, what with all the weird time travel stuff.

Jumping the shark? You're kidding right? The author is far too cynical. The college professors I know all praised this episode as I did. Why the negative knee-jerk reaction to a brilliantly executed episode? I just don't understand folks sometime. It's like the critics who panned great artists who we now praise and honor. Some folks seem to want to be cynical for cynicism's sake as if it makes them more serious minded or objective when all it really does is reflect their inability to recognize masterworks.

I questioned wether abaddon was Walt along time ago and now it can make even more sense. Could explain why walt was always clinging to locke in the first season- Seems like they abaddon and Locke will have more close relations in future episodes. I just got the feeling when abaddon visited hurley in the mental facility also that it was a grown version of walt..If not I believe they are somehow connected. Is it possible that Locke and Ben are half-brothers? maybe the woman visiting locke which lead to locke giving up his kidneys was a con artist friend of coopers-helping in a long con....just a thought

I think the most compelling thing in this episode was the scene in the cabin....the fact that jacob wasn't there??? maybe jacob is locke - or reincarnated.... maybe Aaron is the ONE. Whats up with Claire??? she looks dead or at least drugged or something. Ben seems too willing to give up power. GREAT EPISODE!!!!

I DO very much think the plane crash was planned. THey had the manifest instantly, which seemed awfully contrived if it were something that needed to be found first. No, I think they are ALL there for a reason. Look how interconnected they all are? And who wants to bet we aren't even done with the connections yet?
