Default Lost: Episode 4.11 "Cabin Fever" General Thoughts

Terry O'QuinnLast week on Lost, the island mysteries were pushed to the background while Jack dealt with a bursting appendix.  In the flash-forward, we learned that Jack and Kate (Evangeline Lilly) eventually got together, but the ghost of Jack's dad, coupled with Kate's late night phone calls, eventually drove the good doctor into the comforting arms of booze and pills.  Speaking of ghosts, Christian Shephard appeared on the island and convinced Claire to follow him into the jungle.  Where she went and why she left Aaron behind remains a mystery.

Tonight, Locke, Hurley, and Ben finally stop by Jacob's cabin for tea and scones.  I'll be updating with live thoughts throughout the episode.

Holy Crap! What is going on! I saw all kinds of "easter eggs" from the Amazing Stories comic, the dharma logo on Keamy's second agenda, even Geronimo Jackson poster on Locke's locker.

That may be my favorite LOST episode ever. I will have to watch it again Tomorrow to see if it holds up.

Soooo usually after a Lost episode, I understand more than the previous time I watched Lost. This time, not so much. First time I've felt this way in forever. I don't mind, but I'm confused - can both Alpert & Abaddon see the future/time travel? Is Claire dead, like Doc Jensen from EW thinks? What is UP with the time difference? The docs dead on the island, but not on the boat - and then dies? And the helicopter shows up before Sayid, who left a good half a day before it? Soo confused!! And now the Captain is good too! Loved the episode though!

well I can't find flaws with the overall grab factor.. tonights show has provided the moments I typically crave...

However... I now begin to question the direction.. the believability.. and the wisdom of following this path...

we now have introduced.. reincarnation.. perhaps I should have seen this coming.. John Locke.. from all indications.. was an original inhabitant.... from the looks of the items Richard placed before a very young Locke.. he was on the Black Rock.. but perhaps not... either way Richards intimations seem clear enough.. What items had once belonged to him????

The Goodspeed scene.. quite good actually... and well worth the wait...

Christian and Claire.. not a real surprise.. but it was very interesting to see the expression on Claire's face.. the question I have.. if she is to be considered dead.. and I don't think that is the case... why is she still in need of a bandaid...???

The Doctor.. as has been discussed... an 80 nautical mile float to the island>>>??? arrived the day before he is murdered??? Not an UnLost moment to be sure.. but I still question the believability of a body in the water for 80 nauticals washing up pristine..

Moving the island??? has been mentioned or theorized more than a few times... has anyone actually considered its size??? does it move through Time and Space.. or just Time??? or just Space... did they steal this Idea from Stargate Atlantis??? This I also question as perhaps a bad path.. but will reserve judgment... as a huge Sci Fi Fan.. it is still difficult to accept some of the things this show brings to the table when what I am/was expecting, what I could best describe as being, a bit more grounded in reality...

Abaddon.. perhaps the second best portion of the show... and not a surprise in the least.. That he instructs John on how to find himself was the most telling... Not an actual Widmore Flunky per se.. and yet could still be... if Widmore has closer OLD ties to the Island we don't know about yet...but that ben perhaps as left a clue to... "We both know I can't do that"

well.. I have more (especially the Keamy/Michael gun scene) but will reserve it for later... I need to absorb and digest.... totally miffed by all I saw tonight as far as the future direction....

on a scale of 1-10... a solid 8.5.... for effect only... somewhat less than that for expectations.....

Why the bloody hell haven't more people commented on this episode tonight? I'm blown away. And yes, more questions than answers.

The 80-mile travel for the Dr.'s body is IMO explained by a wormhole/time-distance warp...there's no way his body traveled 80 miles w/out getting more destroyed. This leads me to believe that there's some sort of distance distortion going on, and that the boat isn't actually 80mi offshore. The time difference is obvious now as well.

Claire in the cabin...with Christian...that weirded me out. The look on Claire's face was freaky. I don't believe she's dead...I believe she was told something by Christian or Jacob that makes her calmer and at peace. Still, a freaky scene.

Locke & Richard Alpert scene from his childhood...I didn't take that as reincarnation. I took it as Locke having dreams/visions. The drawing of Smokey on Locke's wall, for instance. When he chose the old knife, it disturbed Alpert---why?

I thought it was an excellent episode and I'm not concerned about the direction at all....they've gotten us this far and it's been awesome.

Tonights episode was awsome. The beginning kinda reminded me of the beginning of the season 2 premier because i had no idea what was going on. But i loved it though, Horace shocked me and yes mugatu, the expression on Claire's face was definetly unnerving.
MOVE THE ISLAND!?!?! what the hell? I thought that was just a crazy theory. that shocked the sh*t out of me.
Alpert is blowing my mind, i have no idea whats going on with that dude, but its trippy and i like it.
Overall, great episode. Definetly reeled me back in after last weeks episode

Holy sh*t, that was awesome. "Cabin Fever" is the best episode this season. There was not a dull moment. Everything was perfect, every scene was classic. Keamy has officially made it into my list of the most terrifying villains ever. And the entire last scene at the cabin should go down as one of the greatest TV moments of all-time, from Locke's chat with Christian and Claire, to Hurley giving Ben half of his chocolate bar, to Locke saying he has to move the island. That last scene just secured it's spot up there along with the "Pilot" and "Through The Looking Glass" as Lost's greatest episodes.

This season has been great so far. All it needs is an excellent finale, which Lost always delivers, and it might take the first season's title as the show's best.

Hehe, the cabin scene was freaky. I think Claire knows everything we want to know, so she's content, or maybe she's dead and that's why she's in the cabin, sort of bound there with christian and maybe other ghosts...

Also, best quote ever "Destiny is a fickle bitch"
