Wow! What an episode. And how creepy is Richard Alpert. Did you have chills when he was at the nursery to see John?

I HAVE A THEORY about Richard which helps me explain in my own head about his creepiness and the eye-liner. Richard is from the original crew of the Black Rock. Think Captain Jack Sparrow and overlay Richard with the long hair. It may also explain Abaddon, who may have been a pirate/slave on board. They discovered the island and were pressed into service by it. They protect the island and its spiritual inhabitants. After all, everyone really is dead, or will soon be, except the Oceanic 6 and Ben. A number of them may have been dead since the start. Locke couldn't die at the pit since he died in the crash (which "healed" his paralysis). He's special because he can "see" the living and the dead, just as Ben (as a teen) could.

Talontbo, they don't need a "correction" now for 305/325... if you saw the end of the episode, they move the island. this would necessitate a new bearing. Obviously sometime between the second season finale when Michael left and the third season when Naomi arrived, the island was moved, which is why the bearing changed from 325 to 305.

hey Rich..

I had already thought of that.. fact is... they haven't moved it yet.. so the 305-325 bearing is still in question...

Ben's 325.. Faraday 305... Faraday's can still be off... and Bens is more believable... as well as Desmonds effect following 305... and the continued effects as alluded to last night by the Capt....

but you are correct.. if the move the Island.. or a better term I think is ... Spin the Island... the heading would change... and finding a single heading... 1-360... would take an awful lot of work... let alone actually moving and spinning it...

what I mean by Spin the Island... is Spin The Opening.... the Barrier... not unlike moving the door to the side of the house... they island stays put.. but the Barrier doorway rotates to a new heading...

I don't understand why you think in the entire third season worth of episodes they didn't already once move the island. Hence the 325 (which was only mentioned once during the docks scene at the end of season 2) Since then the only bearing has been 305... obviously Ben has already moved the island before, probably why it was so hard for Widmore to find. So its pretty clear that this will be at LEAST the 2nd time the island will be moved since we met the 815ers. As far as the "effect" experienced by Des and others, i think this is just from entering/leaving/proximity to the island, period, as well as having had prior prolonged exposure to electromagnetism or radiation, as Faraday said. The bearing has nothing to do with it for the sickness. Noted because the chick that jumped off the boat in chains never followed a bearing.

Looks like the two sides in the island struggle are becoming more clear (at least to me): Ben/Alpert vs. Widmore/Abbadon. The two sides seem to vie for the "special" people like Locke: Alpert is there to see Ben being born and then tests him a few years later. Abbadon then makes his proposal to Locke later in life.

If Abbadon is part of Widmore's group, this sets up an interesting turn of events: what if Abbadon calls his chit to Locke just as Locke is communing with Jacob and usurping Ben's control? Is Locke an unwitting mole for Widmore?

I questioned to myself why Smokey didn't off Keamy's group when it had the chance. Smokey proved that it could dispatch people with ease (pilot and Eko), so why spare most of Keamy's group and only mortally wound one of them? I'm guessing Smokey wanted to lure the rest of Keamy's group back to the island. To kill, or have them killed, together. I also think, along those lines, that the chopper will be destroyed to prevent anyone else from getting to/from the island.

hey Rich..

why would anyone think that in the previous 3.5 seasons the island has been moved?? there has been no suggestion on the show anyway that it has...not once has Ben turned a knob.. threw switch... raised a big white sail out the top of the mountain.. not once.. he was secure in the fact.. No One Will Ever Find The Island.. so what need was there to considered it has moved???

as a matter of fact.. not until Looking Glass.. did anyone from The Others.. know Naomi Landed... oh.. Ben knew someone was looking sure.. Michael was his spy... but he was confident in the fact... they couldn't find it... so why move it...???

the test that Richard gave to Ben was the Dalai Lama test. This test was used on children to see if they were the reincarnated version of the dalai lama that owned the object before. if they chose correctly, they were sent to a special school that trained them to possibly become the next dalai lama.

Also, Keamy is really starting to annoy me. why hasn't someone just shot him in the head already?? I mean Gault could have used Keamy's own gun to shoot him in the head as he walked out the door after saying "Fix my gun." If I were Lapidus, I would have sacrificed myself and kamikazed the helicopter into the ocean and killed all the people in it.

Great show. I suspect the island moved after Desmond blew the hatch. The heading 325 prior to the hatch blow, heading 305 afterwards. I suspect those who die see Walt, going all the way back to Shannon and Boone visions, then Locke and Claire. Seeing Walt is not a good thing. They get off the island via the raft most likely, not the helicopter, although anything goes since going the island from the boat is backwards move in time.
