It's really hard getting new people to watch LOST because you just can't jump right in, you have to actually start at the veeeery beginning! Like Season 1 Episode 1. And a lotta people just don't wanna bother or have the time. Which is a bummer because this is a good show. I do agree though that it feels like it's lacking something this season.

Most of my family used to watch the show. Now I have no one with which to compare notes with. They kept switching days, times,...commercials became monotunous,....If you missed a few episodes, you,..well became Lost. People be come obsessed over shows for different reasons and become very dedicated. To me the show is incredible and flawless. The popularity of Lost to me has never wained. It has not lost viewers in my opinion. Neilsen ratings should not decide a success or failure of a show when there are so many ways for viewers to pick up the show after it has aired,..TIVO, online, etc. AND I'm sorry to say that titles like this story unfortunately doesn't help its reputation.

I love that comment about nuts. Heh heh. Lost is being produced now for it's most loyal fanbase. If you haven't been watching all along; if you're not the type of person who seeks out "easter eggs" and other fun theories, you are simply not going to "get it", and a lot of viewers don't have the patience to try and figure it out. Let's face it, the writers aren't giving new viewers anything. If 5 million viewers fell off it's because they didn't have the energy to put into figuring it out. I am not worried. I think few will go anywhere now. My life would be incomplete if I didn't see this show through! It's my only show now that - sniff - Jericho's had the plug pulled!!!

I always download each week episode cause I dont live in USA and I love this show but this season I was waiting for some answers and the episodes are very focussed in characters I don't like very much.
I miss Sawyer and Locke, I want more about them.

I guess people prefer to watch people sing terribly than to think or watch a smart and intriguing show. how lame some Americans are.... LOST rox...ABC would be really dumb to cancel Lost.

I don't watch the show live because I watch the following week when my siblings and I visit our father. It's been a Wed. night ritual since the show started. It only worked live when the show was on at 8 on Wed. I know other people that also like to watch it in groups later. Overall viewership is definately much higher than the ratings. But since we skip the commercials, I can understand why the sponsers only care about the ratings. The ratings are still good though and thanks to the strike, it's been in the top ten, even beating 60 Minutes a few times.

I think the flash forwards were a mistake. People tuned in to see them because it was an intriguing idea, but the execution was just bad. Most people watched hoping their favorite castaways would survive the island and have a happy ending, but Lost is showing us there are only six survivors and they are not getting anything like happy endings. Now, if your favorites aren't going to survive you are left wondering why you are still watching. And even if your favorites did make it off, did you want to know Sayid is an assassin, Hurley is crazy, Aaron is an orphan, etc? I didn't.

Suden - you're missing the point. Sure Sayid APPEARS to be an assassin - but there is still a HUGE why factor. And we don't know that anyone is dead. I read long ago that this season is laying the groundwork for the 6 to try to return to the Island (next season) so they can save their loved ones (last season). It's all mapped out. And I believe that for a lot of them it WILL be a happy ending. They may be mad geniuses, these writers, but they DO know that people inevitably want a happy ending. Getting there is three-quarters of the fun though!

Although Suden missed the point, I too agree that the Flash Forwards were a mistake, sure it's gonna lead to why it's so important that everyone gets back to the island, but I think the story telling of the flashforwards (except for Sun) have been poorly written, But the ratings have always been there for Lost in other revenues, such as I-tunes DVR and DVD -Blu-ray sales. I know people that refuse to watch Lost with comercials, because they'll go insane for 3 minutes.
