God? :> Only thing is it isn't really directing all the happenings in the universe.. you still have free will to make your own decisions its just preventing paradoxes from happening as a result of a displacement. Desmond was displaced within his own lifetime which caused him to see flashes of the future.. hence the Island has to birddog him in order to ensure he doesn't change something as a result of that knowledge and course correct if he does.
