| We know that Hurley has a history of..umm...mental issues. Could have been a hallucination. |

| Senior Member | It wasn't Tom's gun. Michael got it at a pawnshop. Tom did touch the gun in an altercation with Michael, but not long enough to tamper with it IMHO. The message is quite clear that the Island somehow messes with the gun. |

| I was also disappointed by the episode gaps. The key dramatic moment in this episode should have been Michael's confession to Walt. That would have been a great thing to see. But it is obvious why it didn't happen, Walt is now too old looking for the role. I would personally have prefered them to just deal with that problem with some makeup or something and give us the scene even if Walt looked older. It was key moment that we are not going to get. How they got to the New York is pretty important....concidering they were near Fiji. I will die if Rousseau is dead before a flashback!

| Could Michael's inability to kill himself be linked with the universe course-correcting itself? It's not his time/ fate. Is the Island the course corrector? Telling Michael's back story of getting off the island is going to be tricky with the actor that plays Walt looking so much older now. They did a good job getting around this issue in this episode. Not the best, but not the worst episode either. I think he later episodes in each season seem to be better tne majority of the time. |

That said, I'm with you and really don't like where this is going - the Island affecting people off the Island. I also don't like the whole time travel storyline either. Give the writers a "deus ex machina" crutch to fill in plot holes. This will eventually lead to many viewers simply not caring anymore. | |

| There is an explanation for why Michael's gun wouldn't fire. Tom was obviously in the area and beat Michael to the pawn shop. He paid the shop to sell a gun that wouldn't fire or bullets with no gunpowder, and then told Michael that the island wouldn't let him kill himself to convince him to make the trip. |

| skilasou: it wasn't Tom's gun, Michael bought it at the pawn shop, although during their alleyway scuffle, Tom was holding the gun at one point. *** Rigoo3: VERY good point! Tom DEFINITELY could have gone to the pawn shop and rigged the gun the shop owner sold Michael. But what about the bomb that lifted a flag that said "Not Yet"? That was given to Micahel by the others, so they could have obviously messed with it, but when Michael tells Ben he tried setting the bomb off, Ben was surprised that Michael had actually tried detonating the device. I am not sure what all of this means. But I do believe the universe will course correct itself and this is MOST LIKELY the result of that fact. But it would be interesting to find out later that Tom messed with teh gun and thats why it didnt fire. But that doesnt really explain why he didnt die in the car crash. The course correct is the better and more complete explanation right now... |
