Ya, I remember now, the Captain said that its Widmore's freigther and Widmore staged the crash scene, but you need 300 dead bodies to stick in the fake plane to make it believable, and where do you get 300 dead bodies? That is why we want Ben Linus. So its almost as if the Captain (who we shouldnt trust, according to Michael assumingly) is saying that Widmore and Ben are working together on this lie. But why would Ben help Widmore? Ben acts like Widmore is bad and wants to do bad things with the island and Ben is trying to protect the island from him. I think its safe to say that whatever the Captain said shouldnt be trusted. I cant wait to hear what Michael has to say to Sayid and Desmond when they are alone and can update each other on what has happened...

i prefer to think that some of them decided to stay on the island because they wanted so but not all of them have good reasons. the ones i can think of are -

Locke - he loves the island anyway and if he gets off, he may get paralised again.
Sawyer - he is an outlaw off the island, but on it he's a free man.
Rose - on the island her caner is cured so she and her hubby have a reson to stay.

can you think of any others please!!??

hmmm.

Lost grrl is right... we know there is a LIE being perpetrated by the O6...

and yet we have Hurley.. in the basketball court saying to Jack.... "we have to go back"

Here jack has not grown his beard.. and the impression is, time wise... not to long after rescue... Now Hurley is in Korea... not long after the birth on Sun's baby.. perhap slightly premature... so. lets say 6 months off island... Why isn't Hurley pressing Sun like he did Jack??? simply to be nice at a difficult time.??? I can buy that... and yet... through this entire series.. the writers continually fail to follow up... or think things through... I am still waiting for the writers to explain how Locke hasn't found Ben's mystery room... the room Locke caught Sayid leaving when Locke captures Sayid at the barracks...

So... based on the past tendencies of the writers.... IT COULD BE ALMOST ANYTHING!!!

and we won't know until the writers feel like addressing it... if they ever do......

It seems obvious that Jack, Kate, and Hurley are covering for something what with Jack lying at Kates trial and Hurley lying about knowing Ana Lucia. This might help explain the date of death on the tombsone. Either he dies in an upcoming episode or he chooses for whatever reason to stay on the island and the date of the crash is given as the day he died as part of possibly protecting those who stayed or part of some other plot twist as yet unrevealed.

And yes, if there was another person, they would have called them the Oceanic 7. However, maybe Ben snuck Aaron off the island another way and gave him to Kate, thus meaning no one knows the baby was ever on the island.
We know for certain that Ben gets off the island as well so if the press were just calling anyone rescued the "Oceanic X", then that would have to include Ben, making it 7 so far, and that is if neither Desmond nor Juliette make it off. I just don't know but I do know that I hate the idea of Aaron being part of the Oceanic 6 since he is a non-character and wasn't an actual passenger.

Ben doesn't have to be rescued to leave the island. He might have left at a different time altogether, and for different reasons. And count me in the "Jin isn't necessarily dead" camp. I think Sun doesn't know whether or not Jin is okay. I have a strange feeling that something really weird/bad is going to happen around the time that the O6 leave...

As for Locke not knowing about Ben's secret room... why do you think he doesn't? They don't show us every single little thing the characters do.

What's more frustrating to me is how Sun's timeline isn't consistent. In E205, we learned that she had graduated from Seoul National University before she met Jin. But in this episode we learned that they got married in 2000 (year of the dragon), and that Sun was born in 1980. Assuming their courtship was at least a year, how the hell did Sun graduate college before age 19?

Hmmm...*scratches head*...maybe she is some sort of prodigy? But from my brief glance at the Korean (South) education system, it looks like it is tough enough to get through school at a normal rate, much less an expedited one.

My guess? The writers simply goofed. Even Lost writers can't be perfect!

we don't really know for sure Sun was born 1980... it is only a guess that it was her birth date and year on Jin's memorial stone... I personally think, it is a fair and reasonable assumption... but it is not 100%....
