Someone was telling me about the connections between the tempest and Lost, so it's cool that they named a station after it.

Worst person ever? What the f***'s your problem? !@#!@, I love 'Lost', but don't be so damned imperialistic! If dude didn't see the connection before Today that is not a problem, now he knows. I bet YOU are one those who claims to know the Truth about everything, am I right? Get a Life!

OK, the directors gave away to much in this episode. The black smoke can be heard then there is a few twirls of the camera..........and up pops Mrs Goodwin. She is shown to be a,,,,,,,not so pleasant person in the previous scene but it does not make out to be dry and emotionless. Her acting was wooden and i think that was on purpose. After her words of wisdom Jack arrives the smoke starts to sound again and POOF she is gone. What I hope am conveying here is..........The smoke ook the shape of MRS Goodwin and in all probability took the shape of Michael when Lock was near dying. The Smoke is an Artificial Intelligence. An A.I. that can take any shape and I believe we will find out has been for most of the show.

I am not familar with the play 'The Tempest' however from your lesson I could conclude your first thought of Ben being Prospero could be correct... That would mean a modern twist on the play with Alex being his daugther and the deformed figure being Jacob and I suppose the black smoke would be the spirit, 2 things that he has some sort of control over. The vessel that he crashed onto the Island would therfore be Flight 815 and not The Black Rock and his enemies and our beloved plane crash victims. For what any of this means I will leave up to the die hards to decipher.

This explanation makes much more sense than the one in the article--especially that part about Jacob actually being Alvar, who is also Magnus meaning that the Captain and the First Mate are the same person. I haven't heard anything so confusing since I was first introduced to the concept of the Holy Trinity in Sunday School ("Wait. Jesus is God's son, but us also God??? And they/he is also The Holy Ghost? But they are all separate but the same person???). Jacob may indeed be the First Mate of The Black Rock but it would be stretching the Lost viewers very flexible ability to suspend disbelief for him to also be Alvar and/or Magnus.

i'm sorry but if you don't know the tempest then this will probably make no sense but i would say that ben is the character of caliban, as both hold the idea of keeping the island safe as their top priority, if you are following that analogy then juliet would be miranda, whom caliban is desperate to be with, i would also say that jacob/magnus hanso or whoever ben was following would be prospero. as the character of prospero was shipwrecked on the island and took control of the island itslef and forced the natives, i.e. ben into working for them and obeying his wishes

hmm...not that it means anything, but The Tempest's Dharma Logo Picture thing kinda looks like an incomplete Ying-Yang...except this Ying Yang seems to have evil in good but no good in evil (black in the white space, but noe white spacec in the back space) which could suggest that, on the island, if u are bad, there's not a chance u'll become good (That came out wrong, but you know what I mean...)
