A part of me wants it to be Commander Adama and Starbuck actually found Earth, but they ended up on the island and Ben will have to use all his island magic to fight off the Cylon invasion.

My crazy over-thought idea: What we see in some instances as the smoke monster, or images/manifestations (e.g. echo's brother, kate's horse, the polar bears from Hurley's comic book, etc.) is all one thing/person/spirit that takes different forms. I think this thing/person/spirit is Jacob. Jacob is essentially the spirit of the island. It can take an invisible form, or the shape and form of anything else, including the eye we see and Christian. It has the ability to recognize and see images and things from a person's past. Unless Jack is unable to tell if someone is dead(unlikely seeing as how he is a surgeon), and the Sydney coroner is a member of some secret organization, Jack's dad is dead. We saw him in a body bag in the morgue in Australia. The Christian we see on the island though, is a manifestation of the spirit/smoke monster island thing.

i agree with you as well, i think the eye was just jacob, i think jacob was the black horse kate saw, the cat in flame, echo's brother, i also think it was jacob as boon, when locke lost his voice an ended up having a "talk" with the island

jacob is a weird character, i want some more answers!!

I really don't think it's Locke. With my super facial recognition skillz (you know, the non-existent ones) I have decided it isn't. Locke's eyebrows have that bit of skin that hangs over his eyes all the time. Don't know what to call it but no-nose doesn't have it. Plus the eyebrows themselves seem different.

To me it looks like the eye could be either desmond or even paolo - looks to have long hair and def brown eyes. Locke and Ben both have light eyes. And its def not michael.
