Maybe I just put too much hope into the surprise element of LOST, but it seems too obvious for it to be John Locke. Yeah, he was creeping around outside the cabin once Hurley fell over, but that could easily be the producers throwing us off the scent. Plus, despite the eye color comparison it still doesn't look like Locke to me. I know that his eye is opened a lot wider than the actual picture of Locke, but it still looks like a different person to me. The eyebrows are markedly different, the crow's feet in John Locke's picture are missing, and it clearly seems that Mystery Eye Guy has hair, which eliminates Locke altogether.

Although awesome point, Pitchy. I had completely forgotten that Christian's body was missing from the casket and that that was never explained!

I think it's likely to be Locke. Locke could have gone back to Jacob for whatever reason, and he went to Hurley like right after.

Also, I'd like to think it was Mikhail too... Because he could've survived the grenade, and he's just a cool character

I think Mikhail can survive anything.

correcting myself: his head didn't EXPLODE exactly, but something to that effect, and they said it was because the security system wasn't set to a lethal level
but still, i think it's impossible for patchy to die

correcting myself again:
alright, it couldn't have been mikhail according to lostpedia, a producer at comicon verified that patchy is in fact deceased
but hey, does anybody really stay dead on the island anyway?

For the record...you will have your name in the credits of a serialized TV show if you're considered a major player during the season. You do not, in fact, have to be in the episode.

I.E. William Petersen on CSI when his character was replaced by Liev Schreiber.

So, GG - sorry mate, but you're "Bleached Michael" theory won't fly here.

I'm thinking Patchy - just for the Rasputin element.

I think it looks a lot like Desmond too. Maybe Desmond already had a vision that Hurley would see the cabin and this is related to how he sees it, that he's there somehow.

That's a really good idea actually, because it does look like Desmond. The cabin does seem to be timeless, let's say, and Desmond has been known to do a little bit of time travelling anyway!
