Lessee, a few 'days' ago Locke showed no hesitation whatsoever about pushing a helpless stranger into a (as far a Locke knew) deadly hypersonic fence, but now can't manage to give the coup de grace to a man who has stolen his kidney, destroyed his relationship with the love of his life, and tried his damnedest to kill him. Having manipulated Boone into a death-trap and selfishly reversed all of Sawyer's recent progress, I guess Iron John is the heir-apparent to replace Ben as the Island's Chief Passive-Aggressive Machiavellian Manipulator and Double-Bind Bastard in Residence...

Agreed.
The two Sawyer's conversation was brilliant though.
What they didn't tell Kate could be that she is pregnant?

If we won't learn at the end of the season what actually the goal of the others is I think I wil go nuts.
Purgatory they say, hell he says, maybe the island is the heaven. A very kick-in-the-butt heaven.

No Toto85, I don't think that what Juliet wants to tell Kate is that she's pregnant. That wouldn't fit into yesterday's episode at all. I think Juliet wanted to let Kate in on the fact that they (Juliet, Jack, the Others?) were able to get a message out, or at least tried to get a message out & so they're kind of expecting someone to come to the island.

This was a great episode & Lost is definitely back! (That is assuming you ever thought it had "lost" it!

Can't wait for the rest of this season's episodes. I'm sure that they'll be great!

Great recap Jon -- Thanks!

I wish you were right, but then I hope we will see in the final when Juliet told sg like that to Jack and won't be behind the scenes stuff.

I think they wanted to tell Kate that you can't get off the island and it is protected by some magnetic field. Didn't you all dislike Kate for spilling that there is another person on the island? And Locke... will he be the new tribe leader? Did anyone else notice that Ben was trying to shut Cooper up when he was trying to say where they were? And did you sense that they might want a coup d'etat to happen at the others camp... something about Alpert saying they are sick of Ben's side missions about impregnating women etc. Like he has lost sight of the bigger picture?

Well I have had it with Locke and his self-righteous nature. He is not a killer, I think that Boone would disagree with that. He so set him up in season 1 and he almost got Sawyer killed also when he implyed to Sayid that Sawyer might have time set the fuse and then knocked him out and destroyed the radio also in season 1. He is always talking about being a man of faith but then he does sneaky, manipulating things like last night. I think in the end the island (who he has sacraficed for and who he thinks he nows so well) will turn on him.

I'm intrigued by the idea that the island can somehow grant wishes or fulfill needs. Locke needs to settle things with Cooper. Poof. Cooper appears (although really it looks as if Alpert went and got him by staging a car crash). Ben needs a surgeon to operate on his tumor. Poof. Jack falls out of the sky. Maybe this somehow explains the connections between everyone on the plane/island...they are all needed by someone or something on the island...

Locke is smarter than Ben gives him credit for. Locke knows he's being set up. The Others aren't very forgiving. Dr. Alpert is helping Locke out... why? Maybe he wants Ben out and sees Locke as his way of doing it. We don't know when Cooper's accident was, but I wonder if it was the same accident that killed Boone's father and almost crippled Jack's ex-wife. The Others (or the island) can only "take" people away just before they die. Like in the movie Millennium where they "kidnap" a plane full of passengers who were about to crash, and they replaced them with fake dead bodies.

What a let down this episode was. In the producer's official podcast they said that we would find out how Locke's father got on the island. As far as I'm concerned we still don't know. We know what happened to him before he woke up on the island but it really didn't explain HOW he got on the island. We can ASSUME that he was kidnapped and bought over by submarine but we don't have a concrete answer. I really love this show. It's without a doubt my favorite. But giving us an ambiguous answer is not a proper answer in my books and has left me less than satisfied.
