License Plate Sites NOT A SCAM!!!

Moderators: If this thread gets deleted and the other thread stays open it will be made clear exactly what is going on here.

I'm posting this because I feel totally disgusted with the thread by hylons suggesting that the license plate sites were a scam.

The license plate sites offered a few weeks of entertainment for those who followed the clues. At no point was anyone harrassed or asked for money to continue the game.

The game ended with a flash movie and when you clicked on it you got a page from the puppetmasters congratulating everyone on completing the game and providing an e-mail address to send any questions about the game.

There was a PayPal donate button for people to make a donation if they felt the need but this was in no way thrust upon anyone.

The amount of effort that went into these games was huge and after e-mailing the puppetmasters I got an insight into exactly how much effort it took.

They have now taken both sites down and parked the domains and from talking to them by e-mail i'm pretty sure the negative comments on this forum had something to do with that. I hope you are happy.

I think this is just an example of how fast people can turn on you on the internet. Internet folks love themselves a bandwagon...

I can honestly say I've never been to either of the "license plate" sites, but it was clear from the forums here that a lot of people got a lot of enjoyment out of them. It's sad that people are so quick to forget that sort of thing as they rush to join a rally. It's also sad that the backlash seems to have gotten to the creators. It's hardly a fair way to thank them for such a well-thought-out game.

I think the the creator, who was just one guy, pretty much stumbled into running the game. He registered the sites when he saw them available after re-watching the season 3 finale.

The sites started to become popular and rather than dissapoint people he took time off from his work and work a lot of late nights coming up with new clues and ways to entertain people.

I think the amount of effort he and his wife put into the game is the reason for the resentment towards hlyons comments.

Nobody tried to scam anyone here. There was a PayPal donate button at the end of the game with a comment about making a donation if you felt the need to. No pressure and certainly no scam.

The poor guy only ended the game because he had to get back to work. There was talk of perhaps continuing the game in the future at some point but i'm not sure this will happen now because of the negative comments by hlyons.

I see the sites have both been taken down today and parked and hylons post about the sites being a scam apparently had something to do with this.

The mods on here should remove the thread about the site being a scam as it is completely irresponsible and unfounded.

If you are reading this hlyons i'd ask the mods to remove the entire thread. I'd also send an e-mail to the creators making an apology. I think the e-mail address has already been posted elsewhere on this forum but it is puppetmasters@2saq321.com.

I e-mailed the creators, it took about ten minutes to get a reply from them. Apparently they haven't recieved your e-mail. Weird that, almost like you didn't really send one.
