I agree with this. Charlie knew this was what Desmond had forseen.

Mikhail on the other hand.. how is he still alive? He's been microwaved, shot with a harpoon, and now he's had a grenade go off in his hand deep under water. If he comes back again.. then there's hope for anybody on the island to come back, IMO.

Actually, I was waiting for the Dharma shark to come and chomp Mikhail. Remember the Dharma shark?

I think Charlie tends to panic in a stress situation and he just reacted to the water to protect Desmond. Deep down Charlie was a good guy with a few problems. That's all. He was human.

Even if he left the door open, the water wouldn't raise above the level of the window. Des was getting scuba gear. I think somehow Charlie got a death wish when Des told him that his death would lead to Claire and Aaron being rescued. He probably figured that if he didn't die, they wouldn't have been rescued. He'd seen where previous alterations to Des' premonitions. albeit what would seem minor, has totally different results.

Do we know for sure he died? I remember someone informing them that the Rock Star Islander had been rescued.
My stupid phone, rang right when that was said and I am forgetting if it was on the Sat Phone or what as my attention was not on the show at that moment.
For some strange reason, I think that like Locke, characters dont always die as easily as it would seem.
I liked Charlie, so will not be disappointed if he shows up in season 4

I thought the same thing about him swimming out of the window. Didn't Mikael throw the grenade at the window? Or am I wrong on this. If he did then our bad ass Russian is coming back to stir up some ****.

Charlie had to die to fulfill the prophecy. He had just spent weeks with Desmond telling him he was destined to die, and finally saying this last prediction would lead to Claire's rescue. Then Charlie spent a good while getting the snot beat out of him only to have all of the pieces of Desmond's prediction begin falling into place.

He had to die and he knew it, so he crossed himself and took it like a man.

Anyway... if they're still on the island in season 4, he'll probably come back as a vision or a whisper. If the game has really changed, maybe Charlie-vision will appear to Claire in the real world.
