| So Desmond can see that Charlie's not quite ready to accept his "fate" of drowning. As such, he offers to go in his stead. Charlie thanks him and accepts, then smacks him across the face with an oar. Sorry bro. Didn't mean to save your life. My bad... Is it just me, or was that completely unnecessary? Desmond wasn't forceful with his offer. He didn't make any attempt to try to stop Charlie, he just offered to go if Charlie didn't want to. Why knock him out when you could just say "Nah, I need to do this." That seemed really gratuitous and lame to me. Also, did anyone else think the dark haired girl in the Looking Glass looked like Cassidy? Anyone have some screen caps? |

| Maybe Desmond knew that Charlie would reject his offer to help, and maybe he even knew that Charlie would whack him on the head, but he didn't want to change the future this time. |
