Then, if it was on the ocean floor already, why did it need an "anchor"?

Considering Locke's statement in the mini-season about how strong the tide is...well, if I was tooling around the ocean in a sub -- I want to know that the hatch I'm going to visit stays put.

ahh, no, acutally, I was answering someone elses ? on why people originally thought about cutting the cable - what purpose it would serve....I had already posted (2nd post this thread) that the cable was an anchor, NOT a power line. . .((((it helps if you read the entire post and note the subject matter to which it was responding to)))

No I understand it's an anchor, not a power line. My question is if it's an anchor, and the hatch/station is already attached to the ocean floor, why would it need an anchor. I can understand the tide thing to an extent...but it looked per the blueprints that it was pretty sturdy sitting on those 6 "legs".
