| This was a great Locke episode... It showed how locke is supposedly some big bad tough guy hunter, but yet everything we know about him from his time on the island is false. Why? Because in his "previous" life he was a sucker who got taken advantage of constantly. |

| As was posted in a different thread already: I think that Locke is finally being who he has always wanted to be. On the island he is completely cut off from who he was, and it has freed him to be the man he has always wanted to be. Sure, he studied and learned about survival skills, etc...but he was always unable to be the person who used those skills. But with complete annonymity amongst the survivors he can be that man. |

| I agree, on the island John is free to be a hunter. On the island he's not looking to be led -- he's a leader. He's like the island shaman - going on vision quests and communing with nature. In the real world he was always seeking affirmation and love, looking for a leader, he was always being taken advantage of, used, underestimated -- free from the real world he can be who he was meant to be. John's primitive nature has saved them many times and will continue to do so... That's my 2 cents. ![]() |

| No, I wanted Locke to shoot the kid as well, to add more depth to his story. and for everyone thinking he is not a sucker nemore. imo hes even more of a sucker. he follows the god damn island. remember in Season 1 someone named Boone DIED because locke wanted to follow the island. and remember the only time locke was being the leader was when he refused to push the button, look what happened there. Locke by far is not a leader, he may be the leader of the losties but he follows the island. and if the island demands kate to be sacrificed locke would do it, would any of you do it?

| But was Locke a sucker because the undercover cop fooled him, or because his commune friends did? In way, they betrayed him much worse than that kid did. They sold him a lifestyle that was merely a front for their drug operation, the kid was just doing his job. |

I dont think that Locke is a leader... some of the survivors may now be looking to him for leadership, but only because Jack, kate, Sawyer, and Sayid are gone... Locke is more of a loner who has and is going to be doing his own thing according to what he thinks he should do, or what he thinks the island wants him to do... I agree that Locke can now be who he wants to be, but that person isnt a leader, imo, but more of a stand-alone man that doesnt need others, and has faith.

I still say that he's the island's version of a Shaman -- let's just hope that the Island doesn't waylay him like everyone else.
