It immediately becomes clear that all the survivors of the crash are somehow all affected by internal psychological problems that in turn affect their relationship with others. It is as if the plane crashed in the moment of realization of these problems for each passenger. Therefore we cannot disregard the assumption that the survivors are not just at random but are all part of a experiment, a therapy, as if all are a result of a detailed and timely selection. Yet moving past the obvious surface assumption we must consider that this supposed experiment uses new scientifical discoveries as if the experiment is a type of matrix where the patient is transported into a virtual world where it becomes easier for them to come face to face, accept and heal their internal psychological issues. The experiment begins with a flight simulation, a virtual take off into a world where they all are to face survival and most importably themselves; suddenly .....booom...something goes wrong. The virtual process is somehow disrupted and its functions become at random and this is when the experiment goes wrong. As the system goes haywire, the Others job thus becomes to bring the patients back to reality, without telling them the truth of where they are nor why they are there for fear of causing further insanity. This is why in fact the survivors of the crash are more dangerous than the Others. The survivors are armed, aggressive, vindictive and act as if they have no intention of ever leaving the island. The first to be saved from this virtual therapeutical experiment gone wrong are the children are they are easier to manipulate and thus remove from the experiment. As for the rest of them, maybe the Others are trying to divide them up into catagories.each pertaining to different pathologies to then proceed from there? This theory can be proven as we now see Jack as very hard headed when before we might have thought of him as the rock of the group. He has shows us more and more that he is in fact as wrapped up inside his head, resistant to change and as obsessive as Kate and Sawyer. Is there return to reality the realization of their problems through this virtual reality experiment?

i like the theory a lot! But how did they get them all into this virtual enviroment? The others definitley are more than meets the eye as they keep refering as to being the good guys and we know henry has been there all his life so something is definitley going on away from the norm.

Very cool! At least U're proposing something new & that's always great. My only beef is: there's a clear connection between the real world (Penny/wildmore) & the Losties, so I don't really buy the whole 'virtual simulation' argument, eventhough it's a very attractive idea! Other than that, very cool!!

hmmmm, i think its far fetched. seems abit weird to have ppl sign up for therapy by undergoing a horrific plane crash simulation, wudnt all tha cause more psychological problems??? jus my opinion tho

I love this theory of mental therapy, but I would also like to see it connected to the infection theory. When something went wrong with the virtual flight, maybe they were injected some kind of drug to try to bring them back. One of them, maybe Kate, got infected with some kind of virus and is now passing the virus to Jack and Sawyer by kissing them..... maybe Sawyer is starting suspecting something of this kind, because he really didn't have any reason for kissing Kate in front of the guards, except if he wanted to pass a message like "I know something"

There is always the chance that Sawyer just wanted to kiss Kate too...

Remember, it was the SECOND time he got to kiss Kate... The first time was when Sayid was torturing him over Shan's asthma meds (that he didn't even have)... I think that Sawyer is just a horndog like button-pusher sez... But do you think that he might have kissed Kate the second time JUST to create a scene so he could get the gun? That kissing Kate was a perk? Or did he just want to kiss Kate? Just an idea... ![]()
