| Moderator ![]() | Surely for Desmond to get to the islna, the 'barrier' must have been disabled and the only way we know this happens is if someone doesn't press the button but the paper printed from the pearl doesn't show this so how did desmond get in? Did Widmore plan it and removed the shield the non-violent way (whatever that may be)? Thoughts....?

| there is no 'shield' or barrier... the producers clearly stated that everything is within the realm of the possible, as far as I know, invisible shields exist only in star trek and star wars...

I read the same thing yet it seems a bad idea considering how much unnatural phenomenon the show has already showed us. Like what? Like the black cloud, walt appearing and speaking in pig latin, the whispers, Jack seeing his father, the druggie having that vision and onanonanonanon. Now "they're like everything will be able to be explained in 'the realm of the possible'". Ok, I'd like to see how they get around the black smoke thing without even hinting at science fiction. | |

| What I was confused about was how did The Others not know about Desmond's boat? Kelvin (was that his name?) was keeping it in an alcove that surely couldve been seen from higher up on the island, and then after Desmond escaped, he was probably sailing around in circles for quite some time in the "bloody snowglobe"... |

| Every TV show has some suspension of disbelief. I agree that I don't think there is an actual 'force field' around the island. I expectd that the magnet screwed with the compass guiding Desmond. So he sails away on a heading, thinks he's gonig straight, and ends up back at the island. We're dealing with sci-fi, but that doesn't mean that things cant be explained. There's a difference between saying 'there's a special force field button', and 'the magnet messes with compasses'. Magnets have healing properties supposedly, that could be an explaination for the 'miracles'. Wait until you hear the reasoning before attacking it at least. --Fish |
