let me first say that my memory of Lost is fading fast...but last night i was falling asleep replaying the episode in my head (and you both wonder why i'm still single?...lol) and something dawned on me....follow me here. Desmond runs out of the bunker...Jack chases him through the jungle...Jack catches Desmond and Desmond tells him "you need to enter this code...i'm going to tell it to you, so pay attention...4,8,15,16.." then Jack yells "Shut the hell up" or something like that...right so far? ok...so Jack and Desmond get all teary eyed after that talking about Jack's former wife...we see the entire dialog...and then Desmond runs away again. cut back to the bunker...Locke types in the correct numbers...but he gets the last one wrong. Jack shows up in true hero-boy style and tells him "it's 42...the last number is 42"...now, maybe its just me, but who told Jack the last number? Jack never let Desmond finish the string of numbers before he interrupted him...then Desmond ran off. yet, Jack tells them all that Desmond told him...but he didn't. am i way off base here?

Hurley had talked to Jack about the numbers when Jack asked why Hurley was so freaked out about them blowing the lid to the hatch (he saw the numbers on the hatch right before Locke lit the fuse). So, did he repeat all the numbers to Jack during that conversation?

Yeah, Hurley told the numbers to Jack in the Jungle and Desmond also repeated the numbers twice to Jack...he may have caught it the second time.
