Default Photo in the Hatch

When Desmond is getting ready to ditch Jack and Locke after he fails to fix the computer, who are the people in the photo that Jack looks at for a moment????

I thought it was Desmond... but maybe not.

Looks like Desmond to me. Should we recognize the woman from somewhere?

Desmond claims that his ship sank in a storm and he somehow made it to the island only to be quickly ushered into the research station by the guy who was already living there (forgot his name). That picture looks in pretty good shape for having gone through being washed ashore like Desmond claims.

I'm not sure they're getting the full story from Desmond about how he got there. Plus, why didn't anyone ever ask Desmond how the other Swan Station guy died? Personally, I'd be pretty curious about that.

It could possibly be a younger Desmond. The look on Jack's face when he looked at the picture was sorta "WTF???"....I'm wondering if the woman is someone he knows....

Default The Picture

I think he wonders why Desmond would leave a family picture as he is running
accros the Jungle. All he packed in his back pack was the "drugs".

Is Desmond under the impression that there is some kind of virus/contaminent outside the hatch? The word "quarentine" on the INSIDE of the hatch. One of the first questions Desmond asked Locke was how many people up top are sick or have died. And Desmond injecting himself with whatever that stuff is (some kind of antidote/vaccination, or so he thinks).

I think it's part of the human behaviour/mind game experiment that the inhabitants of the station are being subjected to. Push the button every 108 minutes or the world will end. Don't leave the station or you will be exposed to a deadly virus. Inject yourself everyday with the provided serum to protect you in case of accidental exposure to the virus.

Of course you think some of that might have been mentioned in the orientation film. I wonder if they look will they find more films with more information about the Dharma Project?

I heard rumors that the girl in the pic was Sarah, Jack's wife...but I don't see the resemblance. I think the guy is a younger Desmond.

I heard that rumor also. Is that why Desmond had that smug look on his face when Jack broke down and acknowledged that he wasn't married to "that woman" any longer ????

I don't buy that it's Jack's wife. But, does anyone recognize the skyline behind them?

They appear to be at some sort of marina...that would mean a town near a sizable body of water. Maybe a coastal town.

I originally posted that photo but I think there's a better quality at the lost-media site:

I guess my screencap of the tivo dump messed with the proportions of the Height/Width. The people look a little different on the lost-media one.
