the 'use by/sell by" date on the chocolate bar kate eats (series 2, episode 2) shows clearly 23-04:

this gives an interesting insight into how long desmond has been there, because if all the other supplies are roughly the same date, then that either points to some seriously good preservatives, or a recent -re-stock of the old supplies cupboard!!!

oh, and did i mention the numbers 23 and 4 in the date???

Even the washer and dryer down in the hatch are brand new, they look like they had just been picked up from Sears and delivered to the hatch
