Default Proposed New Layout--Final Chance to Comment!!!

So this is the draft that I came up with. I plan to send a final draft to Admin first thing on Monday morning so this is your last chance to have input!

Changes:

*Totally drop the first menu with the “Lost Experience” and “815” sub-forums and move all of the stuff in these sections to “Archive”
*Get rid of the “R.P.G.” and “An Island Divided” forums; move all threads into “Archive”
*Combine “Theories” and “Speculation” into one thread.
*No sub-forums within these sub-forums, except in the “Episodes” section, where any current discussions about old seasons are in a different sub-forum than the discussions about episodes in the current season.
*“Polls” sub-forum deleted; move any active thread into “Etcetera” and any old threads into “Archives”.
*Combine “Off-Topic” and “Fan Fiction” into one thread (“Etcetera”). Drop the “Introductions” sub-forum—any introductions can be made in “Etcetera”.
*Combine the “Comment Box” and “Admin/Mod Questions” forums.
*Create an “Archive” sub-forum so that Mods can move old threads (I think 3 months inactive sounds fair) out of the active forums. No new posts can be made in this sub-forum.
*Keep “The Tailsection” as the name; Just “Lost” is fine for the BuddyTV Menu, but “The Tailsection” should appear as a title within the forum.
*Keep it black.

[i] Stuff within parentheses is not to appear on menu. Explanations that should appear on menu are in regular type under the main headings.


[ii] Currently this forum is really screwed up with both sub-forums and a general forum that has a thread for each character/actor. Since there is not a lot of activity in this area, it may be best just to dump everything that is there and start over. Sub-forums are not necessary—The way most BuddyTV Top Show forums address this issue is fine (a thread for each, and the ability of posters to make more specific or more general threads).


[iii] Many posters have expressed their displeasure over the dominance of the multiple articles by The Editor that are started in “General Discussion” each week. A separate forum would allow people who wanted to link to Lost articles to still get feedback here without cluttering up the “General” thread with 6-10 articles per week.


[iv] Call this section anything you want, I just thought “Etcetera” was cute.

[v] Lots of people complain about the cluttering that all the old threads create

I cant see anything that isn't covered by the others, or maybe i'm being stupid.

It would just be Off Topic and Fan Fiction--when I originally copied the layout into the response the explanation of what would be in Etcetera (Off-Topic, Fan Fiction) looked like it was another forum because it was in bold, but it is not--it is just the explanation of what would go into Etcetera.

I will be submitting it this evening. Admin has the final decision on what chages will ultimately be made, of course, but they are eager to make changes as well.
