The whole layout should change

I have been coming to this site for a year now.

It seems to get more cluttered with junk every time I visit.

the most important section is the "LOST General Discussion" This should have its own link on the home page so that we don't have to go through 4 clicks to get to it when it is the main section where people hang out. Why make it so obscure.

I still have no idea what the new thread that sits under the index of diffeent threads is. Why is that there. If anything the "LOST GENERAL DISCUSION" should be underneatht the index of threads of there is easier access.

Anyway my point is the site is not user friendly. full of junk. Busy design and clumsy in its asthetic.

I design websites. there is no need for so much junk and difficult navigation.---example all this stuff to the right---I don't care about these other shows. I'm on a LOST SITE!!

The Tailsection used to be one of the most popular Lost forums. In fact it got so big that it outgrew itself and so Buddy TV became the administrator. After you enter the generic "Lost" forum, everything that you see in the first large section is essentially an exact copy of the original Tailsection site. For some reason, Buddy TV has that weird part below with new posts that aren't in the Tailsection section.

I think that the Tailsection format was left as is so that we (those of us who have been here forever, pre-Buddy) didn't flip out entirely. The set-up actually worked really well for TTS, but since Buddy TV has added a zillion things to click on before actually getting to where you want to, it can be a little much.

May I make a suggestion...when bookmarking the forum, don't bookmark at the Buddy TV site, or even at the first "Lost Forums" screen. Bookmark the page where The Tailsection starts.

That's what I had to do. Otherwise, the ads and nonsense would drive me bugsh*t. Of course, that's not too far of a drive.

Notice that they DID take out the strange posting on the first page for us. Just ask in the comments section and a Mod can pass it along to the right person and things can get changed. In fact, after this change was made, Admin asked if there were any other suggestions for layout change. I haven't heard anything from anyone yet.

One thing I have really hated since BuddyTV took over is that annoying frame at the right side of the screen. Thankfully I have an ad blocker that removes it, but there is still all that wasted space at the right side of the page.

I don't know if this is for you guys or for admins... but what do you think about moving any thread that is oh... two weeks or older to an "archive"? Would that free up space in the main room or just cause a lot of confusion?

I've noticed that y'all have been moving things posted incorrectly to the correct place to keep things organized... I just thought of this when I saw lost_grrl's sticky.

When Desi's Brother mentioned that he was really bugged by the strange posting that used to be on the first page and I realized others were too, I went to Admin and they changed it for us. They also said that they would be willing to consider any changes that we Tailsectioners thought might make our boards better. So this thread is for you guys to talk to Mods about the layout.

Let me take a look at the archive idea.

I'm glad you guys are looking into it, and listening to these things.

I guess I'm a little bit spoiled by the nice clean layout of facebook groups. (not personal pages anymore!!)

facebook's layout works really well, no clutter of irrelvant things, and only small ads which are barely noticable. the thread lists are much longer so things don't disappear right away. Also you can easily search topics. Easily post photos etc.

I still stand by the things I said at the top, they are the major problems to me.

Also on another note, things are getting dictatorial around here. The mood is a bit odd. Removing and closing posts that have just been started and banning long time members etc.

There has been nasty fighting for the whole time I've been here (Bentiss vs hlyons vs Jimmy12345 vs Pitchy etc) but that is all part of the fun.
