What does that mean and why do you do it?

The threads with the most recent posts move to the top of the list and are the first that people see, and so are more likely to get attention and responses from other posters. "Bumping" a thread is when you make a post (usually just the word "bump" but it can be anything that isn't necessary) for no reason other than moving your thread to the top of the list, so it gets more attention from other members.

I get pissed sometimes at bumping threads... I mean, no offense, but how could a thread about Jack Bauer be on top of the general discussion forum? It says that 'anything related to Lost goes here'. Then why 24? Shouldn't this be off-topic material? Shouldn't the top thread be something important about the show, like some great, new theory or a great find? It is not just right if visitors come to the TS, and they see that the hottest thread is about some poster who thinks he's JB and all those non-sense stuff. That is, in my opinion, not a good way to promote our site and attract more members. And I'm not just talking about that thread. Which is why I think we should have a place where you would move those threads that have great theories or interesting material related to the show. Like a 'best theories' forum/section. Or maybe if you would just simply move those threads that don't belong to the forum.

I'm not against these kinds of threads, since I do love to post on them when I want to have some non-lost-related discussions, but all I'm saying is that you should know where these kinds of threads fit best. I kinda gets frustrating for those looking for some good lost-related discussions.

Amen. I agree, maybe a thread like "me vs. Jack" should go into the Character forum or maybe even moved to off topic. I don't think they need to be removed, just moved to a more appropriate forum, so we can get to more of the meat and potatoes of LOST.
