Default Oops!

I've been on the forum for a week and never noticed the intro thread till now
Im Ms Dee. I Love TV, Movies aspecially sci fi and enjoy watching B movies as well.
I absolutely love Lost and that is why I am here.

I was a teacher but was declared disabled a year ago and so I spend loads of time writing, watching TV and surfing the bet either that or I will sulk and sink into a horrible depression because I am no longer teaching and on that light note I will end this intro LOL

Can we be really rude and ask you to elaborate on 'declared disabled'?

Just to satisfy my insensitive curiosity!?

Insensitive curiosity LOL I love the honesty!
I have a very rare degenerative illness called Achalasia I have had it for years and not until recently (about a year and a half) the symptoms got so bad I couldnt swallow at all, so no eating , no sleeping for fear of aspiration during the night. I was fainting a lot and......(so many dramatic symptoms, hard to explain) and when you are a teacher and you have 23 seven year olds walking the halls to go to swim and you pass out....it's not such a good thing
I miss teaching a lot. I taught first, second and third grade.

Actually its not insensitive to ask, it would be insensitive to mock my illness but curiosity isnt insensitive.

Is there no way you could teach smaller numbers? In a more 'tutoring' role?

Or maybe the older classes who have a bit more empathy for the situation?

And now i'm going to retract my oar, and stop asking as i wasn't here when you first joined, a late "Welcome to the Boards" from Jimmy!!

Small numbers?
Any numbers . I can't be reliable. My good days are rare (which iis why I am attached to my laptop, its the most active I can be without exerting myself) Many of the other symptoms I did not mention would not allow for tutoring.

Also as a teacher I know any age group would be affected by a teacher getting ill in class.
It a neuromuscular degenarative and chronic disorder soooooo pretty much unpredictable

Thanks for the Welcome and I suppose a Welcome Back to you based on the forums you were MIA for a while

I just saw this thread too. I posed an intro way back and remember being vaguely annoyed when there were so few responses... hehe.

I'm a teacher too, so yeah I can imagine how heartwrenching it would be to suddenly stop. I even miss the little boogers during the summer. Well, okay. That feeling is sporadic and easily pushed down when I am lying on a beach trying to become the worlds first case of Human Jiffy-Pop. hehe. My kids are older though. High School.

I'm glad you're here though! It's nice to have some new...opinions.....
