So I have never heroes before until this week and i am hooked..i watch of season 1 and 2 in about 3 days...its awesome, but what i loved about season1 seemed a little lacking in season2. i understand developing story for season2 is hard with only half a season, but in season 1 there was always this sense of epic greatness..i dont know to describe it, but I could fell it as the story unfolded in every episode, as things were revealed about the characters and how they were all intertwined and connected to each other. the show got more suspenseful, you felt the sense of urgency right a long with the characters as they keep talking about destiny drawing them together and of course in the final climax they all mostly did come together, not that surprising plot wise, but my point is this in season two that sense fate seemed to be lacking in many of the episodes. A few episodes had it in the 2nd season, but the season seems to lack that sense of urgency and impeding tragedy until like the last few episodes. I think i want to say the 1st season had this great tension between destiny and human will. as this guiding force drove them, every hero reacted to its force in there own way..like more of cosmic sense of purpose and and persons power to choose battling it out. In season 2 that tension seems lacking as the characters actions are more a result of their own or other's actions and not the guided hand of fate...i guess i miss that epic tension, that sense of a higher calling that draws all the heroes together, you know, to save the world...just my thoughts..i hope in season 3 or season 2b whatever..(stupid writer strike) is more epic and suspenseful..now with old enemies being restored...

i think you answer your own question at the end of your post. tim kring planned for volume 3: villians to be the second half of season 2. so, season 2 (as it stands now) lacks closure. since we don't know what volume 3:villians will be, i dont think its fair to compare season 1 and season 2. HOWEVER, taking the longview, i find it hard to believe that they'll have many, if any, seasons that surpass the pathos of season 1. i'm a big fan of Joseph Campbell and his idea of the monomyth. i think the thread that holds together the 'urgency, destiny' and the sense of being 'epic' was, in a large part, the story of nathan petrelli's redemption. also, the explosion in new york thats the climax of the whole season became this tantalizing, mysterious thing dangling just out of your reach for most of the season. there is no singular event like that to tie season two together (at least not yet). finally, maya and alejandro. um. i love this show SO MUCH, i dont know how to fit the blunder twins into the equation. i just hope maya has an important part to play in some far-reaching story-arc (and she's pretty cool when the in-control villian-like side of her comes out late in the season) or i'm annoyed.

ok! so u think peter, not quickly reading adams mind to find out if he was telling the truth, would have been much simpler than him going through all the i won't read his mind scenario just to lenghten the episode. While maybe some important things could have been fiitted in.

| Junior Member | Season 2 annoyed the hell out of me, I wanted to kill West and Claire, Maya became boringly retarded pretty soon after she first appeared etc.... Only bright spot of it HRG ( Noah ) |

HRG's always a bright spot, even when he's on different shows. i was watching this vh1 show 'free radio' or something and he was a guest... now he's even cooler than he was before. he brought up a point i didn't think of before: elle is the juxtaposition of what claire might have been had he turned her in to the company. food for thought.
