Heroes: Episode 2.9 "Cautionary Tales" Recap

Previously on Heroes: HRG was terrified of an Isaac Mendez painting showing him dead and Claire's boyfriend West fled when he discovered her dad is his abductor. Niki was infected with a mutated strain of the Shanti Virus, and the only cure is Claire's blood, so Bob sent Mohinder after her, with a gun. Parkman trapped his dad in his own nightmare, Hiro finally returned to the present (only to discover his father is dead), Peter teamed up with Adam “Kensei” Monroe to change history, and the Wonder Twins have spent nine episodes trying to get to New York, most of that time with Sylar, all of that time annoying viewers.

On tonight's Heroes, we discover who killed Kaito. We also discover who kills another character. It's as bad as you think, then it becomes less bad, until you think about it and you realize it's a total cop-out.

This show has become so predictable it's hard to watch. Again, no Petrelli brothers. This year we hardly saw Nathan at all. Very sad.

anyone who says this isn't predictable is ridiculous and, quite frankly, a little dumb. Did they really have to have Angela tell us straight up that Kensei is 400 years old? Can't they imply anything on this show without saying it explicitly for at least 3 episodes in a row?

and didn't Hiro do this whole "you can't change the past thing" last season? Didn't he change the past when he made Kensei hate him? What's the harm in saving Kaito, when we STILL don't know what his power is.

Definitely a bit of a letdown, and predictable. Sure, I'm glad HRG isn't dead, but it still makes me lose a little respect for the writers who didn't have the balls to go through with killing him. They better plan on killing some MAJOR characters soon, because this was a total cop-out. At the very least, they should've held off on that final scene until the end of the volume finale to make it poignant.

How could they kill of Sulu w/out showing us what his power was? And what is Mrs. Patrelli's power? Also why didn't Ell just blow her handcuffs off as soon as they got out of the car? She wasn't standing in water anymore and HRG didn't even have his gun drawn...

Meh. Another episode without Nathan. It's a shame that the writers underused the guy when the actor is so talented and the character has a cool power which will be fun to use in adventure/action context.On that note, I wish they'd just Kill West already. He's annoying/boring.
