Its interesting that there is so much discussion about how Sylars power works. Is there a discussion on how someone can fly whilst using no engergy or how flames are produced without fuel or regenerating limbs and tissue so quickly without using body resources.

I am pretty sure Sylar didnt kill Candice she made him think he did. Someone has a task to use Sylar but he isn't the kind of person who could be talked into doing something so I think they have made it so that he thinks he killed her and made him think his powers dont work as well. Candice could be with him every step of the way nudging in the right direction not sure if she is fat or thin but would have to be an obvious change in her looks to convince Sylar her powers had failed .

[quote=jrg1316;772421]Sylar's power is the ability to see how things work. I think when he "accesses" people's brain, he can see something in them that allows their power to work and his brain automatically configures itself to do the same. That's my theory anyway
I think meme hit it dead on but you may b right

Yeah it is kind of funny how we study how Sylar's power works and not flight or any other weird power. I think the reason we all talk about it so much is because its shrouded in so much secrecy. We know he kills people by opening their skulls, but why? Is he eating it? Is he studying it? What the hell is he doing?? With Nathan, we see it, but push our concerns aside because its a super power, he defies gravity somehow, end of story. I think with Sylar we're just curious what it is his powers do, not questioning how his brain might configure itself to others powers or how eating brains will absorb abilities. We just want to know what his powers are.

I want to believe that Candice is alive, I really do... it would make MUCH more sense than what they are suggesting (that she's dead). But the writing this season has been so weak that they may have missed this opportunity.
The principal reason to suspect that she is, in fact, dead, is that we see her in her true (fat) form. She had absolutely no reason to display that to Sylar, he would not have been expecting her to be an overweight woman in real life.
And I realize that it's highly nit-picky on my part to complain that he would not have been able to actually access her brain in that shack without making an enormous mess, but the fact is that the reason they can't show us how he does it is because there is NO WAY for him to have done it! I know, we need to suspend disbelief, but this show is just so replete with this sort of malarky, in STARK contrast to last season where there were practically no elements in the plot in which you could poke holes (unless you wanted to question the physics of super-natural flight, or whatnot).

I think there were plot holes last season. Did you write a post about it awhile back?

I had, but then all of them (the holes) were discussed and given fairly rational explanations by the members of this forum. In the end, the only plot hole that remained was why nathan would have flown peter out of there if claire could have just shot him.
The rest of the show basically made perfect sense.

Well I'd give the show some time to fill in their own plot holes at least. Some of them they probably can't be fixed, but who knows. Maybe given some more times stuff will be clearer. And there is still some stuff about season 1 I don't get. Like how Sylar wasn't affected by Eden's powers or how he broke out of the time freeze Hiro caused. I don't think that has been satisfactorily explained.

I don't think that he "broke out of the timefreeze", I think Hiro got to scared and lost control of his power.

I don't know if I agree with that. It could be, but it certainly wasn't explained well if thats the case, seemed more like he was able to cancel out Hiro's power. And that still doesn't explain how he was able to resist Eden when she told him to shoot himself. He didn't even acknowledge that it was a command. So how did he do that?

I need to rewatch a couple of episodes to back this up, but I feel like Candice even had to "command" Parkman a few times in order for him to follow through when he pulled her over. It didn't seem like she just said it once and he did it. So I'm guessing the same is true when she tried to tell Sylar what to do. Maybe we're just making too much about this. I remember reading that the actor playing Candice was giving them trouble with her contract and wouldn't come back to the show so they needed to write her out quickly.
