so you're saying he gets the power from looking at the brain, but then eats it for kicks... i guess. i mean, he did kill his mom.

No that's not what I mean, I'm kinda in the middle of two theories... Or he eats the brains, or he just needs to look at them, and by doing that he can adopt it by changing it in his brain....
There isn't any proof he eats them, but I kinda like the idea of him eating the brains, going that far for his cause...

I thought about this, too. I think Candace is still alive and just created the illusion that she's dead. It makes no sense that someone as efficient as her would be killed so easily and in such a pathetic manner. The company knows who Sylar is and what he is capable of. I can't see them leaving her alone with him without protection. They would run the risk of him acquiring her power, which would make him FAR more dangerous.

hi guys,

I read this all, and I thought about it, maybe sylar looked at the brain of the man or woman he killed and eat just that part that he needs for the special ability.

And what do you think about this, maybe peter lost his mind but not his powers and sylar lost his powers but not his mind, so sylar will need the killing girl, to get himself back on place...

I thought that too. She can make illusions, why not watch him kill her while she is safely away. I dont know if thats the case, but that was my initial thought when he attacked her.

th whole plot hole of this show with sylar is that if he gets his power by changing his brain how did he get the power to change his brain to work telepathically, if he does eat the brains wich I don't buy he would have to clean up every time and ther is little time for that like when he killes the car thief. if he sees how everything works like the brain then eats the brain he is mashing up the brain he studied unless that doesn't matter and his powers are directly absorbed from his stomach, but b 4 he eats he has to study it to. I think the way he does it will never b definateley able 2 b deduced unless they show it whitch they won't if they haven't yet

Yep. On all his victims, the brain was removed, except for Candice.

Hmmm...well if he ate the brains (all of them) that would be where they would go, but I don't think thats what it is. Maybe he takes them with him so he can study them again if he wants. Or so no one else can study the brain to try and figure it out. With Candice perhaps it didn't matter because he didn't have any place to stash the brain?

Sylar was on Mohinder's dad's list. I think he does have a power, maybe the power to look at something and understand how it works? Which is why he is able to "steal" other powers because his gift is to understand the mechanisims in the brain that make the power work.

Which I guess would mean that everyone has the latent ability to do everything every hero can do, but doesn't know how to access it. For our heores, they can tap into certain parts of their brains we never could before. If not, how could "studying" the brain give Sylar any power?

Unless of course his power has nothing to do with figuring out how other people's powers work and instead, his brain is managing to "shapeshift" certain parts of itself to mimic the powers of the hero he's stealing from.

But Sylar says stuff like "what an interesting power, I can't wait to see how it work." Right? I mean, I'm just pulling that from memory, but a line like that would make me think he is actually studying the brain and learning how to activate certain potions of his own brain in order to tap into the specific ability.

Sylar's power is the ability to see how things work. I think when he "accesses" people's brain, he can see something in them that allows their power to work and his brain automatically configures itself to do the same. That's my theory anyway.
