Episode 11 "The Eclipse, Part 2"

I understand the underlying plot points would negate acts of random(or just plain maniacal) violence. But why don't characters like HRG take good shots, or Peter shoot his brother completely on purpose? This show has wondrous potential to be truly great. They don't mind gore, they're pretty liberal about a half-naked 17 year old on camera. So WTF? Why make the good guys retarded and the bad guys not so bad? The bad guys want to "help" the world in their own jaded ways and the good guys fumble about until somehow it all works out in the end...Bravo guys.

Sorry about the PMS'ing on the show but someone needed to do it.

About this Ep: Slaps to the face for allowing Peter to pick up a gun and a groin shot for making him miss everything he was aiming at. Nathan still douching out is yet another douche in the overall line of Nathan Petrelli douchebaggery. I like the HRG Sylar isn't a Petrelli angle, however it could blow up in their faces...oh wait he does in the future...nevermind.

The way I kind of read Sylars flipping is this.

Timeline1
1) Sylar goes to the Bennett household and gets picked up by Primatech
2) Mrs P. drops the 'I'm your mommy' bomb
3) Sylar tries to be the good son and retakes the name Gabrielle
4) Gabby gets guidance from HRG
5) Hooks up with Elle
6) Gabby and Elle have son and name him Noah (after HRG)
7) He lives happily ever after... until his son dies and he blows up

But because of Future_Peter:
Timeline2
1) Sylar finds Claire at the Bennett household, attacks her and gets her power
2) He kills the Primatech agents and takes their security badges
3) He gets into Primatech and kills Elles dad
4) He is still captured (thanks to Elle)
5) Mrs. P still drops 'Mommy' bomb
6) He still tries to be the good son
7) He still tries to befriend HRG
8.) He still tries to hook up with Elle...

But, HRG pretty much lays it on the line in this last ep. Sylar attacked Claire, so he can never be friends with HRG. Sylar killed Elles dad, so he can never truly be with Elle.

9) After pondering this, Sylar comes to the conclusion that HRG is right.
10) He attempts to kill HRG.
11) He succeeds in killing Elle.

So, no sweater wearing, mommas boy, father future for Sylar.

It almost makes some sense.

ok, claire lost her power because future peter told her not to come to her dad's side when he got shot and she was attacked ... BUT ... if future peter never shot nathan, claire would not have had a shot daddy to run off to and still would have been attacked ...

Good point.

Still, if Nathan wasn't shot and went ahead with his annoucement, then she might have been brought to a future press conference as a show of super-people solidarity. Therefore she wouldn't be home to get attacked by Sylar.

Hmm, I'm still not sure why she wasn't at Nathan's press conference in the first place.

Great episode, but what in the world... The Haitian... How was his brother and Nathan able to use their powers when the Haitian was there? It's not like the Haitian didn't have the ability to use a power since he did that palm face thing on his brother... ???

Can somebody explain to me why hiro lost his ability during this eclipse but during the eclipse in season 1 final and start of season 2 hiro stopped time during the middle of an eclipse to prevent arrows from hitting him

He clearly has control over his power. In the past when he's around he's actually wanted to use his power to stop powers. This time he didn't need to. He wanted to confront his brother.

The answer is no.

Noone can explain this to you. They can only suggest their opinion. It hasn't been covered by the show, and it probably won't be.
