My opinion is the future has already been changed by Hiro the moment he teleported himself to the subway five years ago. The original bomb was Sylar whom Hiro couldn't stop coz of the power of Claire, So he concluded: "save the cheerleader, save the world."
What he doesn't know is this time the bomb is Peter after Sylar was stopped. This plot sounds like the movie" Butterfly Effect." Something happens to someone just out of your control.

here's what i'm thinking:

Sylar didn't have the ability of super memory, because Hiro teleported himself to the time six months before, thus the history had been changed, including the waitress didn't have the superpower, and she died coz of the tumor in here head, and consequently Sylar didn't have any chance to kill her.
