For once, it was undeniable which show was better. This week "Heroes" completely flushed "24" down the toilet.

I think the title of tonight's "Heroes" ep should have been "Turning Point," because that's exactly what this chapter was. Halfway through the episode I had decided that it was easily the third best chapter thus far, after "Fallout" and "Homecoming." But by the end of the hour I was convinced that tonight's episode is undeniably the best chapter in the "Heroes" saga period, surpassing even "Fallout," which is a pretty tough act to follow.

The best part about it is, judging from the sick-as-hell preview for next week, the show isn't peaking this time. Next week everyone's nagging questions will be answered, mysteries will finally be solved, and yes, an explosive, pivotal, hell-of-an-ending will occur.

But as for why tonight's episode was such a pivotal turning point for the show? Well, for those of you who were complaining that not much happened last week, well, you definitely swallowed it tonight.

It's damn true. A HELL of a lot happened in this episode, and without a doubt, "Heroes" just took a serious turn tonight. Here's why:

- Peter/Claude/Isaac/Simone Storyline:
Holy friggin' crap. Every scene from this story arch tonight was "down to business." Starting with Claude and Peter being hunted and almost caught by HRG and Peter's mastering of both Sylar's telekinetic and Nathan's flight powers (the "someone flies" tagline was met), to Claude revealing the truth about his own abduction from years back and leaving Peter on his own (as well as figuring out Isaac was the one working with HRG), to Peter finally confronting Isaac and using every power at his disposal, and finaly the shocking death (presumed) of Simone after Isaac shot twice at an invisible Peter and hit Simone (the "someone dies" tagline was fulfilled).

- Mohinder/Sylar Storyline:
This one was fantastically done from start to finish. Finally, Sylar got more than he bargained for from the woman (and I use that term loosely) with the super-hearing ability. Nice touch with her being able to hear Sylar's heartbeat before he killed her, as well as Sylar lying to Mohinder's face about the man who killed his father. The last scene was the best, of course, because it proved what Mohinder said - not every power is a blessing. Sylar couldn't handle the woman's power, and the mp3 player was an especially nice touch.

Hiro/Ando Storyline:
Oh man, who didn't wonder if Ando was gonna be the one to die? Continuing from last week, Ando dealt with the woman playing him for a fool while Hiro allied himself with the corrupt officer from the SGC. The notable scene was of course the gunfight ... this tense exchange was awesome for two main reasons. 1, Ando was shot in the arm and it almost seemed like he would be the one to die, and 2, Hiro saved both of them from getting shot in the face within a split second by finally being able to tap into his power again. Finally, the biggest thing that came out of this was one of the most shocking and pivotal moments tonight. Hiro realizes he was wrong to bring along Ando in the first place, and the two part ways. One can only hope that the pair will be reunited in the near future.

Claire/HRG Storyline:
Definitely the best storyline of the night and probably the best story arch going on thus far, as promised, everything exploded tonight. Both literally and figuratively. FANTASTIC, emotional acting from Hayden Panettiere in tonight's episode, especially when her mother just dropped to the floor. The crying and the emotion ... it was award-winning material. So of course Claire can't hold it in any longer after finding out her mother's memory is pretty much screwed up permaneantly, and she comes clean about everything, blaming Bennet for everything (and rightfully so) and exposing both the fact that she knows about him as well as the fact that the Haitian never took her memory in the first place. This emotional storyline ended with a crossover with the final story arch that was explored tonight, described in the following.

Matt/Gitelman/Sprague Storyline:
My God. The alliance between Parkman, Hana, and Sprague is one to be reckoned with. The ep itself tonight started out not with the "Previously On" segment, but before that the special footage "sneak peek" scene shown back on January 22. Hana Gitelman finally made her OFFICIAL on-screen debut, with both she and Sprague, complete with the same markings/trackers given by HRG, confronted Matt and convinced him to join with them. The final scene of this storyline was (for lack of a better term) pretty much sick-as-hell, as the three heroes ambushed Claire, HRG, and the others in their home, holding the family at gunpoint and demanding answers. Most importantly next week, as promised, they'll get the answers they want, and that means, so do YOU.

Yeah, Heroes was kicking ass and taking names tonight. That's the only way to put it.

Chapter 16 - Best Episode Yet. Kudos. Major kudos to the show. Can't friggin' wait 'till next week's.

NOTE:

Major Heroes that didn't appear in tonight's episode:

Niki
D.L.
Micah

Well, the original synopsis of the ep said that Niki (Jessica actually) would finally meet up with Nathan again (just before she'd try to kill him, of course), but I guess they're saving that for next week. There's no way they'd have been able to work that storyline as well into tonight's already-stuffed episode.

I don't think Simone is dead. If you remember previous episodes in Peter's dreams just before he blows up they show Simone running towards him only to be pulled back by Isaac. I think she gets brought to the hospital and lives.

Someone did die (Dale, the girl with the super hearing powers) isn't that what NBC meant?

Anyone else agree?

Good observation guys! I thought that during the show... If the hearing lady dies does that count as the "someone dies" part of the catch-phrase this week? She was in the future when Peter blows up, but it looks like he's learning to hang on to his powers, so maybe that doesn't end up happening?@?..? I f'n hate this show! I wait for Monday's like it's my birthday every Monday!

well unfortunately i somewhat agree/disagree to your point there...

i do think simone is dead, she wasnt that important to the storyline, and how often do you see someone survive two gunshot wounds especially one so near to the heart

and yes Dale did die, but she wasnt a real Heroes per say even though she did have special powers

but it was said in spoilers that the person who dies came out in the first five minutes of "Genesis" and clearly Dale wasnt in those first five minutes and Simone was

Yeah Great episode tonight... Some things to make you ponder:

- We know Hiro see's Isaac's death by way of of migrane (a Sylar signiture), so we can assume Peter probably doesn't whack him for shooting Simone

- Peter has had contact with Hiro and has absorbed his time/space bending power, so we might assume he uses it to help Simone

- Of course if Simone does pass away, this would be a great catalyst for the "exploding man" for future episodes

- another interesting confrontation I'm pretty sure will happen is the encounter between Nikki/Jessica and Peter... being that he absorbs other powers, this may also feed into his "exploding man" persona

Of course I could be totally wrong... but it's fun to re-read these months after and look back and laugh.

Your right! that just might happen! I mean; why was simone still in peter's future if she dies now? your time-back theory might just be the best possible solution to bring her back!

I just thought about this but when Hiro goes to the future in one of the firdst episodes he finds Isaac dead, killed by Sylar but then in the epsiode Fallout when Peter has his vision he sees Isaac alive holding Simone back from Peter, so obvously things have changed so far and if Simone is really dead then Peter's vision isn't acurate any more so i'm pretty sure things have changed and i'm 97% there isn't going to be any explosion

I think there will an explosion but instead of destroying the city it isn't harmful but helpful instead(maybe activate everyone's latent mutations or give every a warm loving feeling and giving people understanding..etc). That's probably something like an optimistic ending for the show. :P
