Speculating on a MAJOR plot twist here... When we first meet Matt, the time is years before the current time. The family that has been massacred is Claire's birth family. Claire is the little girl hiding in the closet -- the one Matt finds by telepathy. That explains why Sylar goes to the FBI offices to kill her. Aubrey/Matt run Sylar off before he can kill her -- which may figure into the meaning of the "Save the cheerleader, Save the world" mantra. Why? Sylar's powers are diminishing over time. He kills the other "heroes" off to regain those powers -- in an attempt to become "all powerful". If this theory is true, then the entire series has been jumping time off and on for the first nine episodes.

| I hate to tell anyones ideas are wrong or off. But, this Idea has been proven false. There are a few major things that prove it is wrong for starters when matt gets kidnapped by HRG and the Haiten they don't looked aged at all. Sorry agian but keep thinking

You know, I think you may be on to something. Matt wasn't there to help save the cheerleader, and his interconnectedness with the other heroes hasn't been established. So far, most of the heroes paths have crossed...except Parkman and Radioactive Man, with the exception of each other. This would also apply to one of my theories - that Sylar kills Hiro at some point and takes his powers. If the cheerleader was the one to save the world, then Sylar would use those powers to travel into the past and kill her before she was old enough. The fact that she gets under FBI protection would then lead Claire to the HGM and the Haitian, who could wipe her memory after analyzing its contents and she would forget ever having been witness to her parents death. Note: this would be a paradox. Intricate and thin these ideas may be, but i think there's some substance here we should work on. If it turns out to be true, this is the best show ever.

Then how did Matt get Claire from HRG's mind not long after saving the little girl? There is no way that HRG adopted Claire that fast. Not only that, but HRG told Issac Claire's backstory, which was that 13? years ago, an attempt to contact those who are special went wrong and died, but they left behind a little girl who was Claire and as we saw when we first met Matt, the man who died had his head cut open, something that Sylar is known to do, not HRG. It just isn't that possible if you really think about it.

Sorry... maybe I'm just stupid... But when does HRG say that he tried to contact people with powers 14 years ago? And I agree that the eclipse must be an important part of the show... we'll see how I'm sure.

Claire was adopted by HRG 14 years ago (unless he lied). That would make her about three years old at the time. It's not the same girl. (Would have been nice, but oh well).

Asides from whats been said, to elaborate on the little girl that was rescued, (portrayed by Adair Tishler) her name is Molly Walker. No relation to a younger Claire.
