| ok, ok, ok, so we're pretty sure that Sylar is eating all the Heroes' brains to attain their powers.... right? which means that in order for him to be this powerful already he has killed Hiro in the future, and eaten his brain, and used his power to return to this timeline. So essentially, if the heroes can be saved one by one, Sylar will grow weaker and less powerful until he is normal again, and then he can be stopped. Alright, this doesn't explain the nuke, but maybe that is part of his contingency plan... And maybe he is after the little girl cos she has a power greater than all of them.... This show rocks. B) |

Ummm, ... actually, "No". Not entirely in agreement. So far, all I know is that: Brains are missing; Sylar has/had multiple powers; Peter has/had multiple powers; Peter seemingly absorbs his through proximity to others having those powers; and Sylar has a medical book in his apratment open showing brains. It seems more logical (to me) to assume that Sylar has discovered where the powers are housed in the body (what exactly he needs to be close to in order to absorb the power), and stores the brains in order to have access to each power. Perhaps that is why one vistim was shown frozen ... he was keeping the brain on ice for transport. I don't really understand the idea of "eating" the brains as a way to gain their power. Wouldn't the power have to be more like a virus/disease than a DNA/genetic factor for that to work? ![]()

| i was just jumping on the bandwagon, as most others here seem to think he's eating the brains, and i have to admit it i think it would add a cool supernatural twist to the show. then there's the other factor..... is he really a 'he'? could he be a she? ....and could s/he actually be able to morph into other forms (giving the impression of one or the other)? |

The traditional cannibalistic belief is that consuming the source of an enemy's power gives the you that power. You eat a warrior's heart to gain his strength, for example. So the brains have to be the source of the powers. If simply consuming the flesh transfers the power, then the powers are contained in the DNA/ RNA, as you asked. Sylar would have to have a digestive tract that doesn not break down these macromolecules but rather transfers them via the bloodstream to his brain, where they are combined with other DNA/RNA strands from both Sylar and his victims. The thing is, Sylar may be gaining memories this way, which will lead to a massive case of multiple personality disorder. Ever read Hauser's Memory by Curt Siodmak or watched the TV adaptation with David McCallum? Same idea. A more elegant theory is that the brain of a Super acts as a battery generating an energy field that manifests iteslf as the power. In which case Sylar need simply remove the brain as you would remove a battery, make the necessary energy transferral, and displose of the now-inert grey cells. Claire's predicament at the end of Chap 3 struck me as similar to electronics prepackaged with a small plastic strip blocking the battery from completing a circuit. Pull out the strip and the battery now powers the object. As for the delightfully elfin Eden, I'm prone to thinking she and the phone tap guy are in league with Mr Bennett. But dramatically even if she has no conspiratorial connections, she still has a vital finction in the series-- she makes sure Mohinder has lines to say! Think about it. Without her, all Mohinder could do would be stare morosely at his father's stuff and make his discoveries in silence. Comics may have thought balloons, but HEROES does not.

| Sylar is the one obviously doing the Brain snacher. But recent Paintings tells me that Cap guy is NOT Syler.

| The Cop that dressed like the cap guy, Don't think Matt would dress like the presumed Sylar? the painting looks like he arrived too late and saw THE CHEERLEADER without her brains. IF it is Syler it should be walking away to the door with his head turned to see the cap silhouette. |
