To play devil's advocate, I would say he stopped the bullets and fell over for effect, but I really don't believe that's what happened. It looked like he absorbed those bullets when he was knocked backwards, and the subtle (almost re-healing) sound you hear when he stands back up. No visible blood spatters, though. EDIT: Whoops, sorry for the repetition... you replied pretty fast, MoonDaughter!

Hmm... I think it's more feasable for Peter to have been in contact with Niki somehow and for that to be our Sylar rather than Sylar be from the future. If Sylar had Hiro's powers there would be no show. Also, Sylar's apartment is in NYC... further lending credibility towards the idea that Sylar is a function of the present, not the future. The only question is how did Peter meet Nikki and why does "Dark Peter" have such outstanding control of his powers? I think Peter as Sylar is a great twist... real good stuff. Just think about Mohinder and Peter's cab conversation... how would Sylar take that? And with all that "Forgive me" stuff, I think we know Sylar is empathizable on some level. Yeah... that would rock.

The 3rd comic lends a little credibility to this because Nathan is becoming the hero that Peter wants to be... but because Peter's powers aren't offensive and rely on others to be used, he starts to go nuts. To become the hero he wants to be requires other people's powers... hence him killing all the other supers... to get the powers and save the world... in a crazy way... | |

ok this is my first post so I am gonna try to catch up here, I love the theories thrown out so far and completely agree but would like to perhaps extend on them a bit.... Peter I dont think is completely like Rogue, Rogue while taking the person's powers actually drains it from them and this doesnt appear to be happening here, Peter's brother didnt get weak when he walked off the ledge and was floating in front of him in Episode 3. I think he simply takes on the powers of those around him and can use them, making him really cool. As for Peter being Sylar: perhaps the writers are drawing from comics a little bit here and if they are getting Peters name from Peter Parker of Spiderman then perhaps it would make complete sense that he would have an evil side that is split apart from him in the future like Venom was to Spidey. could we also be getting a glimpse into this at the end of episode 4 when Hiro comes back from the future and tells Peter he almost didnt recognize him without his scar, is this because the Syler version of him in the future has a scar; deformity and scaring often being lended to the "evil" versions of characters in comic books, or perhaps he obtained the scar when being split in two. As for the whole getting shot by bullets deal and not getting killed who said that had to be telekenisis? If sylar can take on other's powers than whats to say that one of those people wasnt like Claire or perhaps even Claire herself and so he can regenerate and not die.

The more and more I think about it, I am pretty sure Sylar will be a future Peter...most likely the split personality like how Niki is, hence why Hiro won't just kill Old Peter, because there is some good to him also. I bet in the future Peter thinks he needs all the powers to save from an impending doom and kills or somehow gets them from everyone of the other Heroes we met so far and then feels he needs to go back in time and get all the Heroes from around the world. One of those things where you are doing bad, when you are really thinking of helping. Also, they seem to be trying and making it look like Nathan could be a bad guy, and that always means to look the opposite direction, which is his brother. In shows like this, it's never the easiest way out and they are building up reasons for us to hate Nathan, so it's most likely not him.
