I think Sylars power is simply to know how things work. This would explain many things. First of all when he saw Bryan Davis he saw inside his brain and said: "Suresh is right, it is in the brain." Then he killed him, and you saw him smile and the camera focus on Davis' head. He obviously knew how the whole thing worked and what gave Bryan telekenesis so he could adobt the power himself. This also explains the missing brains, as he probably examines them and / or takes the part or DNA or whatever that he needs. Also it explains how he could have mastered it so quickly. Davis who said he had known about the power for a while, showed Sylar and the cup had been wobling a little, starting stopping... etc. The next day (as he said to Suresh: "I'm sorry for how angry I was the other day") he showed Suresh and he moved the cup perfectly. You can see that other heroes are still struggling with their powers. Like Hiro who even said "This power is bigger than me" Also, its quite a while before Hiro can pinpoint the exact time and location he wants to travel back to. This is apparent by his longer hair, and good english. Albeit, he was probably scared to try again, we can tell this by his comment: "I'll be lunch for T-Rex" but still... And, in the 5 minute preview of Fallout we saw Sylar talking to HRG and they were talking about his job and he asked "No, Why don't you tell me?" (in reply to Sylar saying "You know why I was so good at it?") and he sayed: "Because I can see how things work." "What makes people tick." And for all those saying Telekenesis is his only power watch the 5 minute preview and it says he has several powers. And more proof about him knowing how to take their DNA is proven in the preview too when HRG says: "I think the infusion of so many alterations to your DNA has corrupted your mind. All this power is degrading you."

Also, I'm pretty sure this will come up so I will answer it now... some of you will probably say: "Well he didn't have complete control.... the glass flew against the wall" I think this is because, like I read in some other topic, the same reason temporarily couldn't teleport from Japan back to the diner. They said it was due to the fact that the power was in the brain and that Hiro was so emotional due to the fact that he couldn't save Charlie. Sylar was simply overwhelemed with power... he was different.. special. This rush of emotion caused him to loose control.

Also, there is another thread talking about maybe their DNA being a triple helix. If we accept that theory it might be possible that he can alter his DNA. This would be due to the fact that DNA replication would only be accurate should TWO strands be kept so everything lines up again correctly. If Sylar can see how their brain works he could find the "mutation" and replicate it in his own DNA...no proof of that DNA theory yet just rambling[/b]

Agreed - I think his power is to know how things work as well...it would go with everything thus far in the show. Perhaps he was able to use his powers in the room b/c he figured out how the room works?

Telekenesis may be able to slow down a bullet but the average human's reaction time is around 250 miliseconds. Average 9mm will fire a bullet at around 1000ft per second. The distance looked about 20ft or so and would have taken only around 20 miliseconds to strike him. Not enough time to use any power requiring concious thought to deflect (or reduce the energy) of the bullets...let alone trying to concentrate on an object moving at that speed (human eyes can not see anything moving at that speed). Multiple strikes from a 9mm at close range will easily put you down for the count if you are wearing kevlar. It would seem reasonable that he has obtained some level of resilience ("super strength"?). Super strength of some sort would also allow the ability to run very quickly, jump easily, and resist the damage caused by a great fall. You would have to have a certain amount of resiliency in your skin, tissues, and bones to support super strength.

It would seem that at a minimum Sylar has acquired, in addition to his personal ability of knowing how things work:

Telekenesis
Control over temperature (cold)
Resiliency to injury or super-strength

Using Telekenesis to push an object and assuming that someone can control the molecules of an object (avogadro's number is 6.02 x 10^23 and that is only one mole...ten thousand, billion, billion molecules) such that the kinetic energy is dissipated are vastly different. I can push a chair quite easily. It is not so easy to make the chair suddenly colder with my bare hands (though I could slightly heat it with my bare hands).

Yeah! Enough with the TK sheild already. I'm guessing he's using his Powers of knowing how things TICK and apply them to his DNA is NO problem to use the DNA manipulation to heal himself.

So i would throw out the Strength & "Resiliency" thing.
