While watching the "Science of Superman" they tackled this issue. Superman has no wings, so how does he fly? Now, my memory fails me, but one of the speculations is that there are theoretical particles called gravitons (sp?) (A real scientific theory). Gravitons would act like photons (Light particles) which travel both as energy and an electromagnetic wave. Sometimes it travels as a particle, other times as a wave. Now it was theorized that if Superman had some sort of cells/particles that could sense the gravitational waves, he would be able to use them to move himself by basically surfing on those waves. (Not exactly the best explanation, and if anyone else can remember that show better feel free to correct me.) Anyway, if it is good enough for Superman, it's good enough for Heroes. Gravitons might also be able to explain Hiro since gravity affects time, but I'm not going to venture there. I wouldn't know how to even defend that pure speculation. Here is a link about gravitons by wikipedia: Graviton wikipedia link

Hey, who knows what the writers will do? They might not even explain really how they got their superpowers. If they do, they might not explain how it all works differently in the individuals (why one can fly while another can walk through walls). Then, even if they do that, they might not explain how each individual has their power and how it works. If they do that, then they could use a completely different scientific hypothesis to explain it. Given all these ifs, probably not. However, if they do decide to talk about gravitons (Really big IF), then they could explain it much better simplifying it to be easily explainable (but not very in depth) and they would take up about 1 minute in 1 episode doing so. Don't judge the guess on my inept explanation.

enough of this science crap. we can't fly. why are we complaining? flying is an awesome power. if that is just his power...he still is more super than me, you or anyone else. i'm sure he has more than just flying powers though. it would seem like he could do more. maybe this show isn't about super heroes? maybe all of our guessing is all wrong and it's about people who have been given the ability to do things not to be super hereos, but average people whom have got a gift. i dunno what i'm talking about now. i've gone cross-eyed.

I think flying is the number 1 fantasy that everyone has. I mean, who wouldn't want to fly?
