how come Sylar didn't take Peter's brains

I think that the only way Claire could have died in the dark future is by Sylar cutting her head off Claire could not move because of Sylars T.K. so it gives him extra time to work on her. Sylar could not take Peter's brain mainly because Sylar was surprised by his healing ability. Which gave Peter time to fight. The 5 yaers into the future episode was not perfect but it will do.
