OK. There is a huge problem in the episode in the future (Episode 20). Sylar lets on that Peter was actually the person who blew up New York, but Issac (in the present) says it is Sylar (since he predicts int in his comic) and Hiro (in the future) believes it to be Sylar as well. Were they wrong all along, and "save the cheerleader, save the world" doesn't actually matter, since it comes down to Peter being able to control his power? Also, why the hell didn't Claire just shoot Peter? He could regenerate, and instead he blows up in the air, potentially killing Nathan and creating all the after-effects of a nuclear bomb. Furthermore, Peter can fly, why does Nathan have to carry him? I think these stupid inconsistencies just spring from a ****ty writing style where the writers each work on a single character, and even if they don't work separately now, they aren't as connected with the other characters, leading to plot holes.

Nothing in the finale made sense. It was totally disappointing. Is that really how the writers work? No wonder nothing fit together. I blame the whole embarrassing collapse of the storyline on the writers.

In the future it WAS Peter who exploded, he admits that. But in the present Sylar intended to, we see the begining of his plot to become president after he kills his mother, and pert of this is exploding, which i cant do without 2 things, Ted's ability and Claires ability, and he only gets to one before Peter and Hiro find him in the Finale. However if he had got to Claire in the school their wouldnt have been anything to stop him,so 'save the cheerleader, save the world' makes sense. The only hole i can find is why Nathan flew Peter up, but it makes sense that Peter was putting all his effort into controling Ted's power and if he was to fly he'd lose concentration and explode before being far enough away from the city

I give a 2-5% chance that Nathan isn't actually dead so it's not a big deal he flew peter up in the sky. Peter didn't need Claire's power to survive. Both Ted and i assume Peter aren't affected by the radioactive power. It didn't harm ted. And a hero transfers his power to whatever he is touching (except the ground apparently), like when DL gets Niki through walls and when Ted got caught by the FBI peter turned both him and claire invisible by holding her arm. Therefore, if Peter doesn't get hurt by the ability and nathan was holding on to him he wouldn't be affected either. While plausible, i believe is it improbable that hte writers would pull a twist like that. but for those who are worried about either of their survival, you have hope yet.

i think Nathan is dead, it would kinda negate the effect of the finale otherwise... are you sure it didnt affect Ted? he didnt seem to be too healthy in the Bennets house? also Claire believed he wouldnt survive, before it was pointed out that he had her power...

The final episode made perfect sense. Peter couldnt fly because he was overwhelmed by Ted's power. He even said," I can't do anything." which meant he couldn't use any other powers. As far as who was the original exploding man? Well, if one looks at the episode Five Years Gone, we see that Peter admits that he was the one who exploded. Sylar confirms this by saying that everyone blames sylar for the explosion but," We know better, don't we Pete?" Based on this, we KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt the explosion would not kill Peter, because he survived it in the other timeline. And yes, Peter didn't need Claire power to survive exploding. We now know that Claires power was what prevented Hiro from killing Sylar in the Five Years Gone timeline, so by saving her, Sylar was vulerable to Hiro's attack, as we saw in the final episode. Also, I believe, Future Hiro believes it was Sylar who exploded because after he stabbed Sylar and Sylar regenerated, Sylar most likely threw Future Hiro as he did Present Hiro. At which point Future Hiro goes back into the past and trains to become the warrior we see in Five Years Gone....Hmmmm this may be a HUGE spoiler for season two, but I dont know how to do the black box thingy yet so oooops if I ruined season two for anyone. Lastly, the reason claire didn't just shoot Peter was that whatever part of the brain the branch and glass entered ( branch = Claire dead until it was removed, Glass = Peter dead until it was removed ) wouldn't solve the issue. Either Peter dies permanently from the gunshot or he is only dead until a coroner removes the bullet and then he still has Teds power to control. Ok now my theory: Peter isn't dead. Peter survives because Teds power doesn't harm the one with it. As far as Nathan...it's most likely he is dead. This is the best plot point as it shows that Nathan is a decent person after all. I believed Sylar when he said," When I killed Nathan, he had already turned on his own kind." And the fact that he was willing to bail from New York and let all those people die doesn't show him in a real positive light. BUT...should the writers want to bring Nathan back...say in season three ( not two because thats too soon to make it fun ) They can film a scene of Nathan flying up with Peter in his arms. Peter says to Nathan to let him go theyre high enough for the city to be safe. Nathan does and flies far enough away to be "safe" and Peter goes boom. Peter now hurt and regenerating falls to Earth and is lost in the ocean, but not dead and can return at anytime to pick up another storyline. Nathan can either return to his congressional seat OR he could have been knocked from the sky by the blast and injured. Maybe the tired old amnesia plot. OR Peter could have sent him ANYWHERE in time ( using absorbed Hiro power ) just as he released the explosion thus saving Nathan. While Nathans death is the most likely and the most literary plot outcome. This is television and dang near soap opera televission, and we all know in the soaps people come back from what appears to be certain death all the time. Its just a matter of if the audience will believe it.

Very true, while at the first take you would think Nathan died, I have a hard time believing that he did simply due to the sheer speed you see Nathan taking off at, he would have only need to fly a couple seconds to have enough velocity to throw or drop peter to have him explode in the stratosphere (high enough so you wouldn't have the radiation and such falling down on NY). So I have a hard time believing Nathan died, maybe he had some radiation burns from holding Peter but even that is doubtful given what we saw back in Mr. Bennets house when Ted was shot and releasing his power how Mr. Bennet tried to get close enough to Ted to use the syrigine but was pushed back by the waves of energy coming out of Ted, He should have been toast a day after that given how close he got to Ted, same with Parkman so maybe Peter just wasn;t emitting THAT much actual radiation out yet or that Peter's own immunity to his own power somehow extended to Nathan due to physical contact, its all plausible reason why Nathan could pop back up unscathed and alive in season 2 as I think he will.

there's something that doesn't make sense to me. the reason hiro can't kill sylar before the bomb explodes in the alternate future episode is because sylar has the power to regenerate. this means claire is killed at homecoming, which is also the whole point of the "save the cheerleader, save the world" thing. However, in the alternate future episode, claire is alive and in hiding and sylar (in the form of nathan) kills her again. can someone explain this?

At the end of the last episode as the camera pans away from the spot where Sylar was stabbed you see a blood trail on the floor leading to a manhole. But the whole "Save the cheerleader" thing still remains important because Sylar was injured so badly he could'nt cause any more harm at that time. But if he had Claire's power he would have stood back up and popped everyone else's cloggs after throwing Hiro at the building. But the thing I really don't understand is in the "Five Years Gone" alternative future, the one were Peter did explode, how come all the other characters that were near by during the end fight scene are still alive. Shouldnt they all have been killed in the blast?, all except Claire??!! but this was just one episode and I guest the "Changing the future, because its not set in stone" makes clues in that alternative future a bit false. As for the Peter and Nathen, Alive or dead thing! Peter is definately still alive and the "Five Years Gone" episode shows us. And Nathen has been replaced by Sylar with his new shape shifting power. But there is some indication that the guy who played Nathen is working on the second series, but he could be writing, co-directing, acting, cooking, cleaning.....
