I'm not belittling the book, it's a great book, but I'm just trying to say 42 has deep esoteric meanings in almost every religion and culture. You can also find 42 hidden in movies like Ghost and the Matrix. A few Spiritualists and religious scholars, and "ellites" know what this number really means, thats why you see references to it in hollywood, but the general public has no idea what 42 really means. They think of it's most popularized reference which is from "Hitchhikers Guide".

Egyptian mystery school innitiates had a deep understanding of the "sybolism". But it is much more than a symbol. Simply put, it has something to do with Sacred Geometry and assention.

forty-two is the result, or product of the clash between six and seven. Six is known in the christian tradition to be the number of the devil. Satan's mark and so on. Seven is attributed to God's acts on earth: 7 days in creation, the bread and the fish (5+2), and so on. Their constant struggle, good versus evil, and the muddling gray area in between can be justified in the constant appearance of the number 42 in the Heroes' Saga. Also part of the reason most of the characters on this show have Christian/Biblical names. That is, of course, just my opinion. Can someone help me elaborate on this with more factual background info?

also Adam may be trying to play 'god'. he was the origional founder of the company and had 12 follwers (oppostles).

this is cool, i think its a notable element that more people should be aware of. like in many famous literary works, heroes utilizes allusions.
