Anyone have any theories regarding whether the future explosion blows up NYC or if it just starts in NYC and is supposed to blow up the world.

I think lots of us assume that the explosion in the future takes out NYC. Maybe this whole Save the cheerleader, save the world thing is a direct reference to the future explosion that begins in NYC but will actually consume the world?

Opinions?

I think it is actually the whole rift theory. I think something happens that causes the space/time fabric to tear and its not NYC being nuked, its the universe tearing in half. Just my theory tho.

I'm sure it's going to be nuked, hence the mushroom cloud. If it's a Temporal Event It would be an Implosion rather than explosion.

Question is there are NO nuclear power plants in the City of New York.

So NY, NY is Ground Zero as for the Fall out or Aftermath that has secondary effects to cause the world to be in trouble. Compared to "U.S" incorrect claims that 9/11 was the end of the world or that World War III.

It's good to know that ONE of us has experience with temporal events. I can sleep easily now.

Without going too much to Astro Physics, I point to BlackHoles as samples and Shouldn't there be at least a ripple effect in the perception of fabric of time&space If you choose to believe it to be an explosion.

and IF it's a Temporal event there's got to be more than a simple boom!

still not satisfied Wetware?

They're going to make it as simple as possible. Hiro is obviously VERY important because he travelled to a future where he had not gone to America to help out the other Heroes and it ends up being nuked. That's the future if the heroes do not succeed, so that's why Hiro goes to America in the first place.

What I think will be the cause of the atomic bomb is the inmate we saw in the "the next few weeks" preview this month. He can do something to alter chemicals and cause chemical reactions (boiling water for one) so it'd make sense that if an atomic bomb was constructed, he'd be able to manually detonate it with his powers as opposed to the normal more tricky and hard to do detonation of a bomb.

I have a theory about the Nulcear Explosion...

There was a shot of a champagne glass boiling and a painting by Isaac of it too. But it was being held by a hand wearing a nice suit in a bar setting. They just introduced Radioactive Dude, and there is a shot of him in an interrogation room doing the same thing to a regular glass of water.

Carrying on... Sylar, from what I've seen can absorb powers like Peter, but the powers Sylar absorbs are permenant cause he's eating thier brains. I think that Sylar is going to eat the brain of Radioactive Guy, and then we will see this MIA boiling water scene.

Radioactive Man doesn't seem bothered by the effects of his own powers and said himself "i don't know what will happen if i die, maybe i'll explode or something". What is Sylar decides to take out NYC and makes himself the bomb with his new Radioactive powers? He won't be hurt, and it makes sense that they need Claire to get close enough to stop him cause she's indestructable. Just a theory, but i think Sylar himself is the Bomb!

Nathans wife is a paraplegic. She hasn't been introduced because Nathan is the reason she's in a wheelchair.

I was thinking that Sylar's character has been around a lot, but we haven't noticed. Since Sylar is taking brains it's a theory that he's absorbing powers like Peter, but permenetly cause he was thier brains. He's taken quite a few brains from characters that were never introduced. Maybe he has an ability that hasn't been seen yet, maybe he can change his appearence. For all we know, he could be the asian lady from Las Vegas, which would connect Niki and Sylar i guess. But i'm probably just reaching. Haha

Does anyone else think the guy they arrested last night who could burn people and his surroundings might be the guy that causes the explosion in NYC? He said he might be able to do it when he was threatened by the cops.

If that's true, he reminds me of Nitro from the X-Men and current Civil War storyline. Nitro is able to blow himself up causing a massive explosion but is able to piece himself back together again afterwards. Nitro was the cause of the recent Civil War storyline because he exploded killing over 600 people including children.

Im actually pretty disturbed about that piece of writing.

Either A) He is the cause and they thought that the audience was too dense to piece it together and gave that OH SO OBVIOUS hint that he's the cause.

Or B) It's a false clue and they want to cause some misdirection. But honestly, just having people walking around with radiation detecters and things of that nature is *MORE* than enough to cause people to start speculating that he's the cause of the explosion. So why hit the audience over the head with a hammer about it when they are trying to be subtle about so many things.

Mentioning that in the story line was just pitiful in my opinion. Either way it plays out, they used a sledge hammer where none was needed.

Other than that, i've liked a helluva lot of what these guys are writing.

It is possible...but it just seems too damn obvious. Why would they have a character say.....I don't know what i'm capable of, I could explode, take out the building, maybe the whole city.....just seems way to heavy handed......I'm thinking he is not the cause.
