Unhappy Heroes Turns To Real Life

When I saw the show that had Hiro 5 years in the future 2 weeks ago, I couldn't help but think back to 9/11. All of a sudden a so-so politician becomes the "Hero" of the world, through nothing but fear. He can suddenly make decisions that don't have to include anyone else, because he is saving the world(is any of this sounding familiar yet) I know future Nathan ends up being Sylar, which proves him not to be the monster we think he is, but look at the changes in all our other heroes. Hiro ,himself ( to me the real hero of the show) losing his humanity. Haven't we all sort have become so coplacent, we dont'care anymore how many Iraquis or US soldiers die each day, we would rather know how Anna Nicole Smith died. We have these constant little distractions to keep our mind off what's really happening in the world and it took a show like "Heroes" to bring it all back into perspective.

I hear ya, Chickster. Good points, all of them. It's too overwhelming to think about sometimes, and that's why people just look for fluffy news all the time. But we should all try to *care* more, you know?

Thanks for your post.
