What an insightful post.

That superhero chick needs a facial reconstruction though.

Another great episode just finished, glad to see the topic interested a few people. I dont know if ive changed my costume wearing ways, maybe my view is more outfit then costume now, and i think ive been swayed to "along way down the road" for the costume way of thinking, but i still like costumes. I was a underoo kid in the 70's, i cant help it.

no to costumes...

costumes is a line...

its the line that seperates the casual viewing audience enticed by the personal drama and story and the science fiction/ comic book / superhero loving fan that watches to
see inside homages to other works or the superpowers and good vs evil drama

its the line that if crossed will alienate the casual audience...

its the line that seperates the serious from the cheesy...

disguises.. thats different... but no costumes... no spandex... no bright colors

I'd go with no, personally, but I see where you're coming from.

Mainly no because Heroes' advirtisement emphasizes that these are normal people discovering supernatural abilities.

I agree... No to costumes. It would just ruin the "everyday people" aspect.

I think Hiro, being the comic-book fanatic that he is, should get one for one episode or something. It could be comical!

Sence some one already beet me to it.

Will Heroe??s be ??spandex free??

I read a review in my local paper that went something like this. ??Ordinary people discovery they have extraordinary powers and are distend to save/change the world. The first episode was surprising thoughtful and thankfully ??spandex free????

Spandex free?

Spandex free!

SPANDEX FREE!!

He said that as if this was a good thing. I mean you can??t have superheroes without the costumes. It??s like Star Wars with out Jedi, I mean that is like the whole point. [/b]
Okay stop right there. The point is to tell stories about super powered individuals that are NOT superheroes. The point is NOT to be superheroes, at least not in the traditional sense. It is devoid of the unrealistic emotional reactions, absurd science and 8-page storytelling that makes up the comic book Genre. The things about superheroes that turn people off have been stripped away.

That includes uniforms for people who aren't not affiliated with a national or government organization. Absurd reactions to radiation and genetic treatments. And people who all react to tragedy the same way as Martin Luther King Jr: Trying to save/change the world for the better. It's entertaining, but people who haven't grown up with comics are tired of it... they never got that 'suspension of disbelief' that allows us to think that putting on a Superman costume is anywhere CLOSE to a logical conclusion to ANYthing.

The show is redefining the term superhero, and that's why it works. That's why it's worth watching. If "Heroes" is just a superhero origin story, then it's misadvertised, and hardly a story worth telling.

I say No. This show seems to be more of a modern version of things. Costumes would make it very unrealistic. It's awesome the way it is!
