"Amazing Overnight Ratings" For Heroes

I found this on HeroesMedia.com. If you haven't been there, check it out. Anyways, Heroes did amazingly well for it's time slot. Quite a lot of viewers. I think we definately have a winner.

At 9 p.m. ET, the debut of "Heroes" (5.9 rating, 14 share in 18-49, 14.3 million viewers overall) delivered NBC's highest 18-49 for any fall drama premiere in five years (since "Crossing Jordan" on Monday, Sept. 24, 2001). "Heroes" soared above the time period competition in the key demographic of adults 18-49, with a 31 percent margin of victory over second place (5.9 vs. a 4.5 for CBS' comedies). Pending updates, "Heroes" also won the hour in total viewers, among adults, men and women 18-34 and other key measures.

"Heroes" was up 48 percent versus NBC's 2005-06 season average in the time period, excluding sports (5.9 vs. 4.0). From its first half-hour to its second, "Heroes" grew by 13 percent (to a 6.3/15 from a 5.6/14) and by 1.1 million viewers overall.

Pending updates, "Heroes" is within one tenth of an 18-49 rating point of the highest rating so far this fall for any new series premiere, close behind Sunday's debut of "Brothers & Sisters" on ABC. By comparison, "Brothers & Sisters" benefited from a 9.6 lead-in rating in 18-49 from "Desperate Housewives," while "Heroes'" had a 3.8 rating lead-in last night.

On Monday night during football season.. 14.3 million is huge! Put this way... the Superbowl gets about 90+ million.

Yeah, what probably hurt most shows Monday was a lot of individuals tuning in for the NO Saints vs. The Atlanta Falcons in the first game in the Superdome since Hurricane Katrina. Brothers & Sisters and Desperate Housewives tend to appeal to an audience that might not relish football.

oh okay, so when does football end then so people can watch heroes

Football on monday night will end sometime late December, early January (just in time for "24" to begin - which might be a reason 24 starts its season then). However, it all depends on MNF (Monday Night Football) matchups. For instance, the upcoming game is the Philedelphia Eagles (2-1) vs. the Green Bay Packers (1-2). I think less people will be watching that game than last week featuring unbeaten opponents (and I am a Packerfan). In some matchups very few people will be watching the game while in others a lot will be watching MNF.

...and then Heroes competes with 24 in the same time slot. Why did they have to tear me between some of my 2 favorite shows?

I didn't know they put it right up there against 24! I haven't seen 24 but I think to put Heroes competing with that show that showed a lot of confindence NBC has with this show.

that's just lame though, i'm sad too. right now heroes is competing with football which doesn't end until 24 starts, so heroes has competition the whole way
