Milo Ventimiglia, Hayden Panettiere, Sendhil RamamurthyOne of the things that makes the Heroes story feel so epic is the fact that there are many characters spread out around the globe.  Lost may have made it cool to have an expansive, multi-ethnic cast, but Heroes put them all in different locations and gave them awesome superpowers.  However, many fans felt that the major flaw of season 2 was that there were too many new faces.  New additions like Maya, Alejandro, West, and Monica (Dana Davis) didn't go over well with audiences.  Despite the fan backlash against some of these characters, TV Guide's Michael Ausiello has announced that Heroes will be adding two new faces to season 3.

I'm not sure how I feel about all these new characters, but I think it's funny that the politician's last name is also the name of where I live.

12 villains? I love villains, but that's a bit much. Realistically, only 3-5 can be existing characters (Sylar, Adam, Elle, Niki...um). It was hard enough to keep track of the six or seven different storylines in season 2, this show's biggest strength (large ensemble) could become its greatest weakness. However, I do like the idea of an evil "straight shooter" senator. McCain, anyone?

Hopefully Tim Kring will introduce the new characters one at a time and ONLY once the previously introduced villain has been thwarted. Too many characters would kill a series like Heroes.

That would be nice, but sadly this is a show overseen by Tim Kring, a horrendous plotter and middling writer. So expect more crap unless he hired another writer like Bryan Fuller who can pull things together behind the scenes.

Ummm....DId Kring learn nothing from the debacle known as season 2? I don't mind a revolving cast but Heroes did a horrible job with an expanding cast. In order to revolve your cast you have to get rid of a character for every one you bring on. Heroes didn't do that and drowned in cast members. The writers did a crappy job with the 5-6 story lines they had last year. Is it realistic to expect they'll do better with even more characters and storylines this year.....I fear season 2 will be the JTS moment for heroes.

I agree adding so many characters to an overly large cast does seem to have a disaster written all over it. I hope TPTB learned that too many story lines destroy a show. Maybe we can get rib of characters if we are adding more for like Maya and Monica.

I am afraid that more character will mean less screen time for the oringinal heroes. I was already missing them during season two, I hope season three isn't worse. Why on earth would we need twelve villians for? That's just overkill. Don't ruin a good thing.

Claire, Peter, Hiro and Mika better not disappear altogether. They are some of the strongest characters. I didn't mind all the new additions last season, but a few could have been left out. Hopefully they will be quietly written out and then I'd except a few new cast members to take their places.
