I know Claude was always invisible at the time Peter ran into him. As for Claire, I'm 100% positive that she never regenerated around him before he did it himself. He only sees her 2 times before then. One when he's looking at the trophy case, and she walks up beside him. The second is when she's running from Sylar down the hallway to the outside, and he tells her to run away and call the police.

Claire never healed herself in front of Peter, she never had a reason to. Sylar attacked Jackie in that episode, not Claire. Claude stayed invisible all the time to stay hidden from The Company, so Peter took that. Peter never met D.L. personally, but he was near him at the end of season 1 and the Kirby Plaza and he absorbed his phasing ability there, D.L. wasn't even using it at the time. Peter was never there when Issac was painting the future, the first time Peter painted the future is when he looked at a painting Issac had that wasn't finished and he saw how to finish it.

Also, I don't remember for sure on this, but I don't think he never personally met Niki either, and he absorbed her super strength.

heh.. You're no doubt correct. I admit to season one being less than fresh in my memory. I would point out that regenerating from a wound isn't necessarily the requirement. Claire's ability is similar to Adam's, which means continuous constant cellular regeneration. It's how Adam hasn't aged in the last 400+ years and it's how they will likely both continue doing so forever. Just being anywhere near either of them is all that would be required if the requirement was for the ability to be active, as their abilities are passive in nature and don't require any thought or control on the part of the one with the abilities.

That said, I'll bow to the wisdom of those with better recollection of season one and accept that all that Peter has to do is be near anyone with a power to gain their power.

That does cause me to have one small issue, though: Gabriel's power. Sure, I can see Peter maybe needing Gabriel to show him how to actively access it, but if Peter gains any and all power by osmosis regardless of that power's being active, Peter already had his power as well from their multiple encounters. He started going nuclear just from being emotional after being near that power. Would someone like to explain how in all of the time since first encountering Sylar for the first time, Peter never had his power kick in when he was trying to figure something out? Like, oh, I don't know... when he was trying to figure out who he was, how he got where he was, and why he had no memory?

I think that's the problem everyone is having. Peter should have been able to absorb all of Sylar's powers when he was around him, but he didn't. That's either a huge writing error or Sylar is just the exception, and Peter can't absorb his powers unless Sylar uses them.
