Heroes began its second season slightly below expectations considering the global level of hype over the show.  Keeping things in perspective, Heroes definitely has its coasting numbers at around 12 million viewers, but with the hoopla spraying all over the show it is a bit surprising that it did not secure numbers in line with NBC's new science fiction entry, Bionic Woman.

Well, if you missed the premier of Heroes or Chuck for that matter, then there is a re-airing of both on NBC tonight beginning at 8/7C.

To Jon Lachonis heroes got more than bionic woman as shown by above post. Also can you please stop basing your opioion of heroes on the hype of the show and base it on the show itself. As every tv show in the world either gets overhyped or underhyped

To Jon Lachonis, you are so stupid to not even know that Heroes averaged a 14.3 million viewers last year, and so tupid to realize that the second season of heroes premiered with 14.12 million viewers and also the number in the 18-49 with 6.5/15. Jon Lachonis, we all know you are jealous of Heroes;and there is nothing we can do about it and please stop posting stuffs that you don't know about, you jealous son of a !@#!@

If anything, this proves the point that there may have been a 'Halo' effect on the ratings. Those 'final' numbers are the 72 hour numbers, which include views made after the show day.

The ratings game is more complex then you might think. There are fast numbers, final real time numbers, 48, 72 hour numbers, and even one and two week numbers. According to NBC, Heroes ended with a 6.5 rating, 15 share in adults 18-49, 14.1 million viewers overall.

Kanseylar: Well Kane, while I don't get into the slinging of first grade insults, I also don't drink NBC's kool-aid. You might check out http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/current/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003648946 for a bit of perspective on how networks use ratings data to their advantage.

Let's face it. It's not that people were standing in line. It's the fact that the Heroes premiere was very much anticlimactic. That is not what I expect from a season premier. There was nothing that hooked you in to keep watching.
