LOST Vs. HeroesDespite sharing many of the same fans, the LOST vs Heroes debate is alive and well in the netlands.  Fans of Heroes cite its shorter arcs and quicker delivery of revelations as the marks of superior story telling, while LOST fans point to Heroes panned finale as evidence that its competitor is operating at a ‘he who burns brightest, burns out first’ pace.   From a critical standpoint, LOST’s cinematic pacing and mind bending ending left fans with nothing but stunned curiosity to hold them over.  Heroes, on the other hand, suffered from one of LOST’s most frequent criticisms by offering a final show down that failed to resolve any major conflicts, and a final twist that was a head scratcher, at best.

Umm, LOST season 3 ended with the revelation that the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 DO get off the island, but that Jack regrets his decision, whatever it was, and wants to return to the island.

David, you're not disagreeing with anyone. I think you misread the article.

Maybe the article should have emphasized "Lost does not END" instead of "NOT end"

Judging by the caliber of the debate, I wonder if fans who compare the shows will even remember them after the long hiatus both face. For American TV viewers, waiting two weeks for a show to return is almost too much for today's short attention spans, which is why networks never give anything new a chance to grow and mature.

I think Lost has more layers than Heroes. My criticism of the finale of Heroes is not the lack of a big blowout battle but the shallowness. For instance, Charles tells Peter that his heart has the power to love unconditionally, but a.) this is not something that has really been demonstrated throughout the season (Peter attacking Isaac, anyone?) and b.) unconditional love from Peter neither helps him defeat Sylar nor stop the explosion. I still love Heroes despite its flaws, but it's not in the same league as Lost.

i personally think that if your going to compare Heroes to LOST it has to be S1 LOST to S1 Heroes. if you dont do that, i think your wasting your time. but in the end, no matter who, what, or how you compare to LOST, nothing will ever come close!

LOST is in its own league. Heroes is trying its best and is, quite entertaining...But at the end of the day im thinking about who's in the coffin, or whether or not it was really Walt or the Smoke Monster! The only thing thats keeping my mind even close to Heroes is Hiro...and he's not even contracted for season 2 as far as I know. LOST gave all the leftover X-files fans a new show to pine over...and Heroes just doesnt cut it...
the cheerleader is smokin hot though.

I like Heroes, but I was dissapointed in the finale. They really did not leave anything that makes the wait for next season agonizing. Lost always leaves me wanting more. I think that Heroes can do that, even without the suspense. You need to create a reason for people to come back next season and I dont think Heroes did that. Not that I wont watch because I will. lol.
